Scandic Oulu City

The room is falsely advertised as air-conditioned. Upon arrival, we noticed that the room was hot, 26 degrees according to our own temperature gauge. We immediately turned the air conditioning on and thought that the heat would ease after a while. When a couple of hours had passed and the temperature was still high, I went to the reception to ask for help on how to get the air conditioning to cool the room. The answer was that it was already on properly and that we should just wait, but it also turned out that it was NOT AIR CONDITIONING and that it was not supposed to blow cool air! During our two-night stay, the temperature in the room was cool in the mornings, when our thermometer showed 24 degrees. It wasn't even a question of heat, the highest outdoor temperature of the day was max. +21 and partly cloudy. (Note! We kept the room card in place the whole time so that the cooling wouldn't turn off because of that). In addition to the heat, the room was carelessly cleaned and sounds could be heard quite well into the room through the hallway door. - Another surprising event was when the hotel restaurant was completely closed due to the Chef's illness. Fortunately, however, there was a choice in Oulu where our 7-person group could eat and drink. Although some may think the above issues are insignificant, our annoyance is still great because only recently the reception manager of Scandic Helsinki asked us personally to give Scandic another chance when our previous accommodation in a hotel of the same chain gave cause for complaint. We decided to give it another chance and at the same time we received confirmation that this chain is not worth staying at if you want to trust that you will get good accommodation that you can be sure of being satisfied with. An example of a good chain is the S-Group hotels, the accommodation in them has mostly been completely impeccable and if there had been something, the matter has been immediately and properly addressed. Scandic Oulu City's pros: + good breakfast + location + mostly clean inside and out A direct request to the hotel in question is that you check the hotel and room information so that when making an accommodation decision, there is no misleading information that affects the decision. Right in the heart of the city

In July 2026, we spent two days at the Scandic Oulu City Hotel. We had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is modern and comfortable, and our room was very spacious, bright, and cheerful. We felt very much at home. The fitness room offers plenty of options for a workout. The sauna (separate for men and women) is small but nice. The staff is friendly, and we lacked nothing. If we are ever in Oulu again, we would gladly stay there again.
