I do love this place for the staff and location, truly the location can't be beat. Also the cafe is quite nice and air conditioned, but does get very full, so can be tricky to find a spot to work. However there's just too many decisions made in favor of making its high eco whatever rating. In the summer the most intolerable is the lack of air conditioning in the rooms, which would be survivable if they at least put some fans in there so we could get a breeze, but they don't. The second is the comically short burst of water you get in the showers. A timed water output from a push shower is understandable, but 5 seconds is beyond obnoxious. They say it's because the building is old, but that doesn't explain the lack of fans. I've stayed here in the fall and it was fine then, but in the summer it simply isn't liveable, it's not possible (for me anyway) to sleep in such heat. Instead you could try their Bellevue location, the rooms have AC, the showers are indefinite, and the location is still very good. In fact the heat was so bad I just ate my entire week long stay at the Marais location to change to the Bellevue one.

Be aware that the rooms are not equipped for hot weather (no fan, no air conditioning, and the windows have thin curtains that don't block out the sun). My neighbor had two choices: use her bed curtain and roast in the dark without any air, or sleep without her curtain and roast in the sun with hot air. The staff was very kind and helpful. The bedding was clean. My bed and pillow were on the side against the bathroom wall. I had to move the pillow to the other side because it smelled strongly of damp. In short, I think the hostel must be great in other seasons.

No FAN, A/C NOT recommended at all, no good customer service no facilities

Was here during the heat wave June 20-27, 2026. You guys NEED to improve the fan/AC situation. Dorm room was clean. Bed was clean. The bathroom you share with the rest of the floor REEKS of piss especially the showers. The toilettes were no issue/smell, it was definitely the showers.That is the biggest improvment you can make. I understand there is only so much you can do as a hostel, but hotels deal with people who pee in showers all the time and dont have this issue. The restahrant on the 2nd floor has AMAZING A/C. Bartenders are very helpful and friendly.

No AC during summer in any room, unbelievable.

Definitely the cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in! The pros: the building is new, the rooms are new too, the restaurant/breakfast area is beautiful, a great commitment to the environment, a fantastic location, and the beds and soundproofing are decent. The cons: no hooks in the bathroom, the kitchen is really tiny (but the restaurant prices are reasonable), and the lockers are a bit small.

★★★☆☆ Good Budget Option, But More Hostel Than Hotel We stayed at The People Paris Marais as a family of four during our first trip to Paris. We were looking for a budget-friendly option in a good location, and for those purposes, it worked well. The location was convenient, and we had no complaints there. Our private room was a decent size and included a queen bed, adult-sized bunk beds, a private bathroom, and even a private terrace. The room itself was clean, quiet, and perfectly adequate for our stay. That said, the overall experience felt much more like a hostel than a boutique hotel, which simply wasn’t our preference. While we knew it was a hybrid concept, some of the amenities felt very basic. There was only one pillow and one towel per person, and the atmosphere seemed geared more toward younger travelers and backpackers than families. Our biggest issue was the bathroom. The sink water pressure was incredibly weak—just a trickle, really—which made something as simple as washing your hands or face surprisingly frustrating. The shower was even more challenging. The water operated on a timed system where you had to press a button every 30 seconds to keep the water running, similar to what you might find at a public restroom sink. We understand and appreciate the effort to conserve water, but having to repeatedly press a button throughout every shower was inconvenient and detracted from our stay. On the positive side, the staff was friendly and helpful. They allowed us to store our luggage before check-in and after check-out, and they offer lockers for hostel guests as well. There was also a lively restaurant and bar on the second floor that appeared popular, although we didn’t use it ourselves. Overall, The People Paris Marais was okay and served its purpose as an affordable place to stay in Paris. I would recommend it more for young adults, solo travelers, or groups of friends backpacking through Europe than for families seeking a traditional hotel experience. It wasn’t quite the right fit for us, but it may be exactly what another type of traveler is looking for.

The showers are terrible because water comes timed and the rooms are way overpriced

Very nice and accommodating staff, great customer service. Breakfast is included in your stay, and if you order anything for lunch/dinner you get 20% off with your room card. We reserved a private room which was a good size for the price and location of the hotel. However please be advised they are not implementing air conditioning until next year (2027), so we had to make other arrangements because there is a heat wave coming later this week (95 Fahrenheit). I would definitely stay again in the cooler months, or after they implement AC in the summer.
