The Budapest Marriott Hotel is one of the best located hotels in the city, right next to the banks of the Danube River, on the Pest side. The building dates from 1969, based on a design by the architect Józef Finta, one of the most important names in modern Hungarian architecture. Of particular note are the magnificent panoramic views it offers of iconic Budapest landmarks such as Buda Castle, the Chain Bridge, and Gellért Hill.

We had a wonderful experience here. Incredible room with two queen beds and a view of the buda castle, citadel, and of course overlooking the Danube. Lights up at night like magic. Steps outside the door to everything - the #2 yellow tram along the Danube, the legenda sunset cruise, the m1 metro line, and extremely walkable. Super helpful concierge. Hot tip - we were offered an upgrade to a higher room with a better view, including breakfast, access to a lounge with snacks (light lunch!) available from 12-5, nightly happy hour with hors d’ouevres and drinks. If you wanted to, you could eat all your meals in the hotel with this deal! Take the upgrade 😉

Best location with good hospitality..only swimming pool and casino are missing

I just come here to leave a review for Etibar, front desk manager. He is absolutely incredible. I mentioned to him, that it was my birthday celebration and he went out of his way of making me feel special. Thank you so much Etibar , I hope you got the promotion you were expecting. You certainly deserve it. Nagyon finom volt a dessert a szobaban. Gyakorold a magyart. Thank you for this amazing hospitality Marriott.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This place is an absolute tourist trap and a complete scam. First of all, the service was a disaster from the beginning. The waiters were totally disorganized, nobody knew if we could sit down or not, and everything felt chaotic and badly managed. Then came the Bloody Mary. What a joke. The glass was literally 90% ice. We basically received a tiny shot of cocktail hidden behind a mountain of ice, while of course charging the price of a full proper Bloody Mary you would expect anywhere in Europe. It honestly felt insulting and deceptive. The views may be nice, but the service, the quality and especially the cocktails are a complete embarrassment. Avoid this place if you don't want to feel ripped off. If I could give 0 stars, I would. This place is a complete tourist trap and a definite scam. We chose the Marriott Budapest once again to celebrate a milestone — our 20th wedding anniversary — after a wonderful stay for our 17th. We didn’t think it could get better, but it truly did. The staff made us feel celebrated from the moment we contacted the hotel. Check‑in was effortless, the welcome in the room was beautiful, and the service throughout our stay was exceptional. Breakfast was outstanding, and the location and views remain unmatched. A perfect stay for a special occasion. We will absolutely return.

Perfect place to stay while exploring the city!

I've stayed here 3 different times now. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Breakfast each morning is fantastic and probably the best thing about this hotel. The location is perfect- easy walking distance to everything, with a tram line stop right next to the hotel. Some of the river view rooms (on the castle side) have a stunning view, especially at night. The only downside of the river view rooms are the noise- you may to get experience the guy who plays Hallelujah and the theme from The Godfather outside your room, every single night, repeating the same 2 songs, for 3 hours straight. It's pretty annoying. The maids do a great job of making up the room. The gym (actually a health club) is a bit small and can get very crowded- there's not enough equipment for a gym that also sells memberships. They are VERY busy, especially on the days when river cruises arrive; so expect that the 4pm check-in really will be 4pm. They will hold your luggage for you at least, if you arrive before the room is ready. I have titanium status and I got a welcome note with some snacks which was delivered to my room the first day, which was a really nice gesture. The M lounge has a great selection of drinks, and the food is fantastic. They had some of the best tiramisu I've ever had. During my most recent stay, 2 out of the 3 elevators broke down. They did a great job of having staff members escort people to the freight elevators so the wait wasn't as long. My only complaint previously of this place was the rooms were always horribly hot- usually 78-81 degrees even with the AC turned on (supposedly). They seem to have more or less fixed this issue- there are new thermostats, and they seem to keep the room between 74 and 70, depending on how warm it is outside. You can set it lower, but it doesn't seem to actually change the temperature. I wish I could make it a even cooler, but it's definitely an improvement.
