St George Hotel

Very dificult location, very close to the "bad" part of High Street. We were looking for a restaurant to have some dinner, but not chances. The rooms have the essential, the TV doesn't work, the bathroom was clean but the shower tap was liking all the nigh. Need to close the door of the bathroom, but any way, the shower was full of mould, we don't used.

Bed in room 104 was frankly- RANK! No one at breakfast and no breakfast set up. No staff at reception upon checkout.

Place was a tip.. dirty carpets no lift working, went to party and disabled guest was carried down in a sling by four people to banquet room with grubby carpets and water leak stains down wall

We really liked this hotel. The guy on the front desk was really friendly and helpful ( sorry for not remembering your name I'm old). He went out of his way to help but I got the impression that's the kind of person he is. Our room was on the fourth floor and unfortunately the lift wasn't working but we we're offered another room lower down. We found the hotel quite and clean . It's showing its age in places but honestly ours was a positive experience. We had a cooked breakfast in the morning which was very hot unlike premier inn which is warm. We really have no complaints, it's not a 5 * so don't expect it to be but we would definitely go back again.

Very poor food, rooms and lift need updating. Cleanliness was passable.

Rooms were quite clean and tidy but I felt they could do with a refurb as it was very tired. New toilet, bath with shower over, sink and toilet all needed replacing. Probably the price of rooms reflects this. New furniture too. Ok for the price and probably ok for contractors but certainly would not take my wife.

We had a room with a river view that was on the 4th floor. The room was on the smaller side but adequate for one night.

This is a genuine review. I was worried after making booking as some clients had written very bad reviews. I found my room, neat, water in washroom is reasonably warm. Keep it up!

Hotel and room in itself are fine. Main issue is that there are practically no electrical sockets in the room at all. Wet room also very dark.

What an awful hotel. I stayed one night on 21 November 2025. There was no heating in my room. The duvet was paper thin, no blankets. There was no kettle in my room. The staff didn't care, couldn't be bothered. I was so glad it was just for one night. The breakfast was pretty poor too but was included. Never go to this hotel. Try a Travelodge. It was cheap at £36 for a single room but so are other places.
