Cayman Cabana

We really enjoyed this place! The food was delicious, fresh, and the portions were very generous. We ordered the lobster, whole fish, and conch fritters, and everything was cooked really well and full of flavor. Janel was also really sweet and made the experience even better. Great experience overall.. we would definitely come back!

A Very Disappointing Experience at Cayman Cabana After spending the day at the beach, my wife and I wanted to enjoy some authentic Cayman cuisine before returning to our Royal Caribbean cruise. Unfortunately, our experience at Cayman Cabana turned into one of the most frustrating dining experiences we’ve ever had. My wife initially ordered the fish and dumplings but quickly canceled the order after realizing it wasn’t what she expected. I ordered the red snapper. From the beginning, our waitress seemed visibly irritated that we weren’t ordering quickly enough. After waiting about 20 minutes, I explained that we needed to return to our cruise ship soon because of our departure time. She acknowledged our concern and said she would check on our order. Two minutes later, she returned with the fish and dumplings that my wife had canceled at the beginning of the meal. My wife and I looked at each other in complete confusion. Rather than creating an uncomfortable situation for the waitress or involving management, we decided to accept the dish and cancel my red snapper order instead. Just two minutes later, the waitress returned again, this time carrying the red snapper that I had just canceled. Once again, my wife and I were completely confused. At that point, I was extremely frustrated and simply wanted to leave. However, to avoid causing a scene, we accepted the order. Unfortunately, the service wasn’t the only issue. While we were eating, we were constantly swatting away flies. I honestly spent more time trying to keep insects away from my food than actually enjoying my meal. When I finally asked for the check, I was shocked by the bill. The total came to $95 — approximately $80 for the red snapper and $15 for the fish and dumplings. I understand that restaurants in tourist destinations can be expensive, and I rarely leave negative reviews. However, poor communication, incorrect orders, inattentive service, an overwhelming number of flies, and extremely high prices made this an experience I cannot recommend. If you’re visiting Grand Cayman and looking for a memorable meal, I would suggest exploring other dining options. This was, without question, one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had.

Can't say enough about this place! Got a chance to meet the owner (Luigi) and it was like reconnecting with an old friend. He gave us the history of his restaurant, best places to visit, and of course his recommendations from the menu. Atmosphere was great and the food was excellent! Thank you for the experience!

Everything was top notch!

This place was randomly recommended by one of our cab drivers. We took a chance and we were pleasantly surprised. The portion sizes were very generous and everything was fresh! It was one of the best meals we had on the island and we had excellent service. They even brought out fish parts for my son to feed the tarpon in the ocean :) Great experience and we’ll be recommending it to everyone!

Beautiful ambience! This was the first restaurant we tried on the island. The location, food, views and service were great. We enjoyed the appetizers we ordered - the ceviche was vibrant and the conch fritters were good too. We however did not enjoy the margarita... The Mamasita mango margarita promised scotch bonnet infused tequila fury. But it was bland n rather boring. After the margarita, we decided to try other restaurants on the island.

We were ignore practically the whole time we were there and the food took 45+ minutes. Other patrons of this restaurant were getting more and better service. That made this all the more frustrating. Don’t waste your time.

We were excited for the experience at this restaurant because of the menu and outdoor seating. However, we were very disappointed upon arrival. The waitress was actually rude to us and made us very uncomfortable. She either stood over as we were trying to decide what to order or disappeared entirely. Her attitude and behaviors were so off putting that we left after ordering one drink. Stay away.

Excellent food quality and atmosphere. Would highly recommend the margaritas, rasta pasta, and jerk chicken platter!
