Fairbanks Extended Stays

Kind of wish I had read more of their reviews before I booked my stay, floors were pretty dirty and a bunch of interesting brown sticky goo on the floor of the kitchen. Bathroom was also not swept and bathtub had a chunk of toilet cleaner soap in it. The whole room smelled like cigarette smoke. Good thing I had already been camping and had my sleeping bag and personal cookware on hand. Edit, day 2. Just saw the biggest mouse I have ever seen crawling underneath the fridge, you have got to be kidding me… Edit# 3 day 3 after extending my expected to stay by one day, here I am making dinner and a total stranger uses THEIR KEY CARD and walks in on me. Apparently no one is keeping track of who is in what room and is just assigning keys to whoever. This is ridiculous. I have been at roach motels with better service and cleanliness.

It's old but staff is really trying to keep the monastery vibe and up to the times. We liked it, especially the novelty and history.

Easily the dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed at. Everything was filthy, the bathroom was gross, the towels and sheets were stained, the floors haven't been cleaned or swept in forever. They accused me of lying about a reservation and telling me that the confirmation I showed them from their own website wasn't real. After nearly 30 minutes, they finally checked the reservation system from their own website and found it there where I said it would be. At that point they stuck me in a basement room a half mile away that you had to walk through a laundromat to get to. We heard people washing clothes all night long. 0/5 stars if I could rate it that low.

Good basic room that easily sleeps 3-4. My room included a kitchenette and whirlpool tub.

Quaint little place. Great room, full size fridge and kitchen a big plus. Parking for motorcycles is a bit rough.

I'm currently here and I thought I was staying at part of the "Extended Stay of America Inn" since it's listed as "Fairbanks Extended Stay" (what's listed on Expedia's website....IT'S NOT!). It's now called 7 Gables Inn and Suites and it's average at best. The check-in/main lobby and breakfast area is in a different bldg so, unless you want to walk 5+ mins (mosquitos will feed on ya) or drive (and good luck finding a parking space), it is very inconvenient. If I hadn't driven 11 hrs getting here I would have cancelled and stayed somewhere else but, I've learned to adapt to unwanted/bad situations. I had reservations to stay here on my return trip but I have already canceled and will not even be coming back through Fairbanks now.

First, this is not part of the Extended Stay America chain, but one of three mom and pop hotels run by the same mom and pop, The address given on Birch is for the office, which is a crowded kitchen in the Abbey Inn and next door to the 7 Gables Inn, but the Fairbanks Extended Stay is a few blocks away, which is rather confusing. The phrase "individually decorated" on the website means that the furnishings are old and were bought second hand. That said, our room was reasonably clean, though one of the bath towels was horribly stained. The refrigerator was scratch-and-dent but clean, functional, and full sized. Cooking utensils were minimal and non-matching. The bed was comfortable, the internet was free, and the TV Roku system worked well. The complimentary breakfast buffet back at The Abbey was tasty and offered a variety of choices, and the woman who manages the place was friendly. We had booked a single night based on the low price and location near the airport, and for our purposes, it was fine. What did you expect for the price?

I was not looking nor expecting anything fancy, but clearly this is a dump. - The outside of the property is incomplete disrepair. It looks like it was abandoned. - there is not enough parking forcing you to park out on the street. - hallways have chipped paint, torn up flooring, and doors not working. - kitchenettes come only with the absolute bare utensils, most Bean plastic wrapped forks stolen from a a fast food restaurant. No spatula, which explains why the Teflon pans are completely scratched up with tidbits of Teflon getting into your food. - no glasses, only two coffee cups. - bathroom sink drain did not work. - no TV remote. It is also mounted in the worst possible place, over the refrigerator. - phone didn't work. I rated the service five stars because it was not the maid or the check-in person's fault. Maid was very friendly and did an excellent job.

This was a good place for a 2 night stopover in Fairbanks, one of the most affordable I could find. The front staff was very nice, and I appreciate the key card required to enter the building. Some small complaints, the room got crazy hot with no way to adjust the thermostat, I ended up running the AC all night. Some attention could have been paid to cleaning, there were fingerprints on the microwave and some supplies weren't restocked. Overall though a clean ,quiet comfortable place to stay.

Honestly I was worried by the outside of the building and how it looked but that changed the moment I stepped foot in the suite. The floors are heated. Bath doubles as a hot tub. Bed is nice and all the things you can need is in the suite. My only note is maybe have a mat for the doors because of winter and or rain and dirt saves the cleaner a lot on mopping and keeps the wood floors nicer. The owners are super nice and accommodating they were able to get me in early which isn't the norm I just had nowhere to go until check in so I appreciated being able to store my things. Don't expect this if you come because they might not have that luxury during your visit. And they were also personable and got me this paper with a ton of restaurants to try out and they were actually good eats. Honestly if the outside of the building got renovated and you threw in some mats you guys would probably be the place I'd immediately recommend to anyone staying in fairbanks. Pikes just happens to be a little nicer but this place is still the better choice by far.
