Can't say anything negative about this place! Beautiful space, Alivia was great, can't wait to return!
What to find! A centuries old classic inn with large rooms, a wonderful breakfast featuring fresh blueberry pancakes and French toast and lovely grounds. Olivia, the housekeeper, is a wonderful hostess and chef. Located in a tranquil area where the only noise is the occasional car and the plentiful birds. The rooms are very nicely appointed, and the beds quite comfortable. Welcome departure from modern chain hotels
Initially, we were very excited when we found this Inn online. My spouse is from Louisville and was a little skeptical, as they had never heard of the place. Nevertheless, the stellar reviews under the former owners were enough to convince us to take a chance. However, we learned upon arrival that the business had been sold and it was immediately clear that the new owners have a long way to go, in terms of living up to the standards set by their predecessors. The Good: The hotel location is extremely convenient. We were never more than 20 minutes from our destination and we drove from one end of the city to the other, several times. The Bad: ****First off, this is CRITICALLY NOT a bed and breakfast, at least not any longer. It is not well stocked, cleaned, or staffed. While there was cereal in the main house, there was no breakfast. Coffee was self serve, and there was a rotten orange on a plate of fruit that was removed the next day but no one bothered to clean the mold ring it left behind. When we ran out of things we had to go hunt them down in the main house ourselves. Read on for details.**** As soon as we arrived, we could tell that the room had not been properly cleaned. There was food residue stuck to the counters. There were small pebbles and other dirt along the wall. The bed sheets may have been washed, but the blankets were stained and there were hairs in the bed. If you're going to run a hotel, please buy white bed clothes. This is the only color that can be bleached. The cups in the cabinet were impractical and dirty. There was a collection of six wine goblets that had lip smears and sticky residue. The bowls were dusty at best, dirty at worst. There were no mugs, and no pots or pans. Side Note: This room was originally listed as having an oven and we watched that listing be updated within a day of our check-in. Despite an ancient microwave and two random hotplates in the cabinets, without mugs or pots or pans, we had no way to prepare food or even boil water. The shower also had black hair in it upon our arrival, and the shower temperature is basically only cold or hot. You also only get one shower for the hot water, then the tank has to heat back up. We were given two towels but shared one because the other was so dingy. We were given one wash cloth and there was a makeup cloth in the cabinet. There was no toilet paper. We had part of a roll when we arrived, and once that was gone, we had to wait for Tyler to reply to us to tell us where we could find more in the main house (this meant I had to take the instructions I was given and rummage through the storage area of the house on my own so we could pee). We were also given instruction to just take a mug from the main house, but return it (since there was nothing in our room). The staff also has a way to go in terms of customer service. On the afternoon we were able to restock the bathroom ourselves, a young woman yelled at us from across the parking lot. She asked if we had toilet paper. Naturally, we thought this was a fellow patron struggling with our same issue, and we told her to let Tyler know. She said no, she was the cleaner. She was making sure we had what we needed. I'm glad she checked on us, but the whole interaction was strange and unprofessional. The morning we left, a young man named Tony knocked on our door and asked us what he had to do to get a five star review. He asked if he should lower the price. I said no, the price wasn't the issue. The issue was that the room was not as advertised, stocked, or clean. Again he asked what he had to do for a five star review. That was not going to happen but we told him if he refunded us for a night, we would not leave any review. He balked at the request, said he had to talk to Tyler and would get back to us. Then upon leaving he tried to rephrase that if he refunded us for a night we would leave him a 5 star review. Again, not happening.We never heard from anyone. We will never return to the Bashford Manor Inn and I would not recommend it to anyone.
Omg!!! Amazing they went above and beyond to ensure me and my boyfriend enjoyed our weekend it was so quiet we slept in until noon! The beds will take you so be aware if you don't wanna be held and get your absolute best rest don't stay here because the vibe is definitely contagious! Can't wait to go back!
Very convenient location. New owner will be renovating rooms and has lots of new innovative ideas for the property.
