Bellwether House

Place has an excellent vibe and service is amazing. The rooms are a little worn and it's somewhat easy to tell. However, 4 stars still for service. It's that good.

TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE ONE STAR REVIEWS...Somebody with quite an imagination created a beautiful website to scam the public.This may have once been a nice property but what I experienced this past weekend at Bellwether House was nowhere near 5 star or Michelin Key. There’s no restaurant (there is a breakfast buffet made by what looked like college students dressed in street clothes) and it does not have "pastries and items crafted by local purveyors". This breakfast is also an additional $36.05 per day whether you eat it or not. There is no spa (there is a room with a bathtub and massage table for hired independent contracted massage therapists called in as needed), no luxury linens (there are Viscose sheets by a discount brand and worn towels) and no seasonal programming (after I emailed them for dining suggestions I received phone numbers of places to call myself). There was faulty air-conditioning in 90+ heat (so they rigged up with cardboard an incredibly loud commercial air conditioning machine and never acknowledged it was there), art hung with zip ties, stained cushions, peeling paint, cockroaches on the floor, and over all unclean conditions in my Premium King room. I emailed the management company who just pawned me off to the same GM who watched me walk out the door a day before my booking was up to switch hotels and could not have cared less that I was unhappy with my accommodations. I am taking this up with Amex since I booked Bellwether thru their website.

Perfect location, terrible property. The historic nature of it is cool, but still disappointed by what we experienced here. Staff was decent, Mack the night attendant was the best. The chef who won them a couple Michelin Plates (stars for hotels) is no longer employed here, and they no longer offer dinner service at all. This is NOT a 5 star hotel for those who have stayed in one before. When I brought up our experience to the manager, he said “Well, we are not a self professed 5 star hotel”. Fair enough. We booked a “garden suite” at this supposed 5 star property, and we were put in a basement bedroom with 200 yr old brick floors that your socks catch on… It was dirty with remnants from the previous occupants in there. We had blood on our duvet, but they changed our duvet when we asked. When we came back later after dinner we found a large hair obviously from the employee who kindly changed the dirty bed. Just a bad experience, I have little doubt another one of the many properties in the area would been a superior experience, and costed less too. Very disappointing stay.

Great location just off Forsyth Park. The staff went above and beyond to take care of us. The rooms were clean with a comfortable bed. The wood floor and green tile bathroom were beautiful. The included breakfast was also great!

Just spent 4 days at the Bellwether house. The room, amenities and the staff were great! The hotel is in a beautiful section of the city, and easy to navigate to and from by foot, car or shuttle. Well worth the stay.

Found our forever spot in Savannah. Incredible hotel in the most charming area of Savannah. We travel through often and always search for a new place to stay. Our search is over thanks to the hospitality of Paul, Scarlet and Matt. Place is gorgeous, beds are a dream and breakfast was extraordinary. Search no more! I’m home.

The most magical place in all of Savannah! It was our second time staying here - and would never dream of going anywhere else. Ocean at the front desk is amazing and all the staff were kind and helpful. We can not wait for our next trip!!!

We had trouble with our reservation and commmunication was not great. Matt the manager was unapologetic and surley. Other staff were great. It’s a beautiful property, but not quite was was promised- also four fire alarms going off in one night was ridiculous and never even mentioned or addressed. Hmm. Not quite the Southern hospitality I imagined, but a great location. I suggest moving the breakfast table away from the door of the room where we were staying so we don’t get woken up by guests every morning.

My mom and I came down for a girls 2-night stay at the Bellwether House for my birthday in April. Every detail of our stay was exquisite! From the fresh daily breakfast to a divine teatime & champagne toast at 6 PM. The staff was wonderful! Scarlet was so helpful from planning our trip before arrival to her wonderful hospitality during our stay. The bartender, Paul, was also fabulous. I was able to enjoy an excellent massage from Phoenix, and we had a private yoga retreat in the courtyard with Laurie, which was definitely a highlight to our incredibly relaxing stay! We were so pleased with everything, would highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful escape, and can’t wait to return!!

Bellwether House hosted my family, bridesmaids, and me over my wedding weekend. It ended up being one of the most memorable stays I’ve had because of how beautiful the property is and how taken care of we felt the entire time. The breakfast offering is honestly the best I’ve eaten at any hotel, anywhere. We all looked forward to the fresh fruit, salmon, and phenomenal pastries every morning. The restoration of Bellwether's historic property was so well done. It has that perfect balance of feeling true to its age while being incredibly comfortable - and in the most beautiful area of downtown Savannah, at that! One of my bridesmaids described the property as having a Soho House-like design feel, which I thought was spot on - though I’d say Bellwether surpasses it when it comes to hospitality and service. What really stood out, though, was the people. Everyone on the Bellwether team was so warm and welcoming; you can tell that they genuinely care. Matt, in particular, really went above and beyond. In the midst of our busy weekend, he handled swarms of us women and helped make everything during our stay feel easy and calm. During such a big weekend, having him and the team there made a huge difference to my overall psyche! I’d recommend Bellwether House to anyone (and everyone), especially for a meaningful weekend like this. It's a must-stay!

My stay was absolutely fantastic. I loved my room. The staff, especially Mike and Cobi, was so helpful and kind.

A Historic Gem in the Heart of Savannah! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ​My wife and I recently stayed at the Bellwether House, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. If you are looking for a beautiful, quaint bed and breakfast in Savannah, this is a must-stay. ​The Experience: The atmosphere here is incredibly homey and comfortable. We loved the daily rituals—they host a lovely tea time every afternoon and serve champagne in the evening, which was such a sophisticated way to wind down. They even have a record player spinning vinyl every day, adding the perfect musical backdrop to the historic surroundings. ​The Accommodations: Our room was breathtaking, blending historic character with modern luxury. The bathroom was a major highlight; the design is beautiful, and we especially loved the spacious, luxurious shower. It was the perfect way to unwind each night. ​The Service & Food: The staff truly sets this place apart. Matt and Scarlett were absolutely wonderful to deal with and took incredible care of us. They made us feel like royalty! Plus, the breakfast in the morning was fantastic—delicious food in a charming dining setting. ​This is a five-star experience all the way. We can’t wait to come back!
