Well my son Chester was accepted and made to feel secured and helped while he recently went through his travels. Appreciate these amazing people.

I never believed in seeking mental health services until I had a drug induced panic attack and I now am a firm believer when it comes to accepting help. The staff at CSC are all phenomenal. Understanding, kind, caring, compassionate, patient, empathetic, and willing to go above and beyond if you as an individual are genuinely seeking help and dedicated to the treatment plan. The environment felt safe and calming, free of judgement or discrimination, very LGBTQ+ friendly, the food isn't that bad, and the nurses were quick to help me with all my medical needs. I never felt uncomfortable, hungry, or wanted to give up and leave. They helped me come back down to earth and be more appreciative. I never could of imagined receiving mental health services this impactful. Hearing the personal experiences the CSC workers shared with me was eye opening and helped me tremendously.

The 2 stars are mainly for one staff member who was tremendously helpful named Pepper. They were patient and kind consistently. They recognized why I was struggling. They put in the effort to help. There were other staff members who I believe are there because they care. In comparison to a lot of places serving vulnerable, underprivileged, and marginalized people, CSC and the interim service side have a larger ratio of people who seem to genuinely care. However there are some major issues here. The first one being that the system of operations here is painfully nonsensical. Instead of hiring people for specific jobs, they have everyone doing everything. They're cooking, case managing, on the floor in rotation every hour/2 hours. You have ONE person on the floor managing the needs and requests of 35 clients. It's insane. On top of that the way they do case management is also insane... you get assigned two case workers who dont work on the same days, so appointments scheduled by one CM get changed by another, and just a whole bunch of other organizational mess. They offer a ride service but also have a non functional system for that. They have one driver but will book four people for an 8 am ride. If we don't get the ride we need, we may find out last minute and too bad you just gotta deal with it. The more you address the issues at hand the more irritated staff members get with you. Rather than taking it as an opportunity to reasses and restructure the system, take into account whats not working and make adjustments they get visibly upset. While this is likely due to the burn out... its still unacceptable. When you offer a service your goal should be improvement. When you sincerely want to help, critique should be welcome. Any organization that is resistant and apathetic to the grievances of the community it is serving, is not fit to be in operation. There are staff members who are genuinely very problematic and inconsistent. One staff member named John responded very differently to male clients and female clients. When I made reasonable accommodation requests he would dismiss me and ignore me, often shutting the door in my face. When male clients did things like take people's laundry out of the machines, or take another persons spot on the queue, he would claim there is nothing he could do and we would have to just deal with it. When a male client removed an older woman's laundry and she informed him, he told her she should stay by her laundry next time. He did not reprimand the male client. He was very insensitive to my needs and showed no desire to help me. All in all I am appreciative of this place cause as I said in comparison to a lot of places many of the staff members care a lot. Until the system of operations changes, and some staff members undergo more intensive training or are gone alltogether, this will not actually be a safe or functional place. I found that being here after a whole worsened my mental health rather than helped it.

Okay so the staff are amazing everyone was genuinely caring but if you are having a mental health crisis this is not the place. it's basically jail they will search you take your phone and it's very strict they need more funding I was there because I was suicidal and it made me feel more suicidal. The staff we to busy to offer mental health support but they tried and for that I thank you but sitting in voluntary jail is not conducive to a healthy mental state.
