The Royal Sonesta Washington DC Dupont Circle

It was close to everything and the metro location was very convenient and helped reduce walking a ton. Everything was clean/orderly and the staff was very friendly. I recommend staying on a higher floor if you want a more quiet place. I will definitely stay here again!

My room was next to dumpster, so instead of swapping room the gave me air spray, and that took 2 hours. They never sent ice bucket after repeatedly asking for one. My cologne worked better than air freshener. Besides the location being centralized to every place I went … not a good experience ‼️

While a recently renovated hotel that has decent room and public areas, the absolute lackluster (and frankly detracting service), makes this a 1 time visit only. Majority of the team at the front desk will respond “no” to simple requests: 1. On arrival - we had asked the gentleman checking us in if we could have help with bags, he said “there are 2 agents at the door, go ahead and get their attention - let them know you need help and they can help you”. 2. This morning, we left to tour the city at 7am, and let the agent at the front desk know we are going out - could they please clean our room. We returned at 2pm, to find 2 cleaning carts in the hallway - and they still had not cleaned our room. Fully understand they work certain hours - but as a Customer who had requested this - assuming that not every other customer did the same - should have been an easy yes. On returning and letting the agent know the room was not done - and asking couldn’t it have been prioritized / his answer was “I can’t answer for housekeeping). 3. Last night we wished to buy a bottle of sparkling water - the hotel sells no drinks except at the restaurant (when it is open only), so we had to walk a half mile to get this. The issues we are sharing are so easy to fix - all about attitude, nothing we asked for would cost any additional money for the property, and some would have driven additional revenue. Very disappointing we will not be back.

Hidden Resort Fees charged afterwards without ever a mention by staff, hot water would come and go and was very inconsistent in the shower, at one point it was scalding at the lowest possible temp before the shower shuts off, so couldn't shower after being in 100 degree heat all day. Either the cocktails are overpriced or room service fee was, they ended up being ~35$ each, (they were decent not great). Out of their control but the fire alarm did go off twice, at 2 and 3 in the morning, within a hour of each other and going down and up 10 flights of stairs twice after exploring DC all day was pretty bad. Will 100% stay in another hotel next time I'm in DC.

Great hotel in a great neighborhood,plenty of restaurants around, close to metro. Very clean, breakfast overpriced and could have some more choices.

Awesome room size

The fire alarm went off multiple times for no reason between 2am and 3am, and the hotel refused to offer a refund of any kind. The hot water was also nonexistent. Needless to say, I will never stay here again. If the people running this place had any shame, they'd refund the stays of everyone who was woken up at 2:30am because the staff can't maintain the building. Aside from how poorly maintained the hotel is, the restaurant downstairs is fantastic, and I'll happily be back there.

Maxwell is consistently helpful, friendly, and accommodating, always going out of his way to make guests feel welcome and valued. His positive attitude, professionalism, and willingness to assist with any request make a lasting impression. Right in the heart of DuPont Circle, The Royal Sonesta Washington has just upgraded and remodeled their front lobby, and featured the grand opening of their new lobby bar. I was upgraded to a higher floor to a "mini studio" room with city views. The room is about twice the size of a regular room, being quite spacious and comfortable.
