Mitini Nepal

Mitini Nepal is the country's foremost organisation working specifically for lesbian, bisexual and transgender women, a community that the broader (historically gay-male-led) movement long underserved. Founded in 2005, it grew out of the need for a space where queer women could organise on their own terms. From its Kathmandu base it runs peer-support groups, mental-health and crisis support, legal-rights advocacy, and awareness campaigns, and it has been a visible voice in Nepal's push for marriage equality and against family-based violence toward LBT women. It is a working NGO rather than a nightlife venue. Travellers — especially queer women — looking to connect with the local community or find support are welcome to reach out through the organisation's official channels; a visit is best arranged in advance rather than treated as a drop-in.
