Telephone Pub is one of Bangkok's oldest gay bars, open on Silom Soi 4 since the late 1980s. The name comes from the telephones placed on the tables so customers could call each other across the room, a gimmick that made it famous. Today it is a relaxed bar and restaurant with a mostly gay crowd, both Thai and foreign, and a good place to start a night. Soi 4 is a short pedestrian lane off Silom Road lined with gay and mixed bars, a few minutes from Sala Daeng BTS and Silom MRT. It gets busy after 21:00, and the outdoor seats are the best place to watch the street. Soi 2 and its clubs are next door.

Last year, my partner and I came here for drinks. We were served by a deaf-mute waiter who was very attentive and friendly, and the other staff members are great too. That's why we came back this year and also had something to eat. It was delicious. The outdoor tables could be spaced further apart, but that's the only thing we can complain about.
