The Tour Saint-Jacques Paris IV is located in a square at number 39 Rue de Rivoli in the fourth arrondissement of Paris. It is a tower that is classified as a historic monument because it is the Tower of the former church of Saint James of the Butchery. It reads on the Mérimée base: “The construction of the bell tower dates from 1509 to 1525 and in 1836 it was bought by the city and dedicated to the embellishment of the future Rue de Rivoli” It was when I entered this square that I saw this tower knowing that it is high and can be seen from a distance. Around this tower there is a balustrade with a stone staircase and I could not get near it and that is a shame. Happy because at the foot of this tower, I could see a commemorative plaque with the history of it. Nice tower.

La Tour Saint-Jacques is located in the eponymous park, located on rue de Rivoli, in the 4th arrondissement. This emblematic tower can be visited during part of the year, by reservation in advance. Its panorama of the city is speendid due to its central location. Its origins date back to 1523, built in flamboyant Gothic style, the church that surrounded it was destroyed during the French Revolution. Inside the Tower is a statue of scientist Blaise Pascal.

This church is currently closed as its grounds and garden are being worked on. However, you can still get some decent photos of it from the roadside. It's made up of white stone and has a tall steeple encompassing arches, turrets, statues, windows and a balcony to its peak. There are lots of lovely architecture to view but was such a shame I couldn't go inside due to the closure until the middle of December.

It's what is left of a former large old church. This is the church town which has been preserved in the middle of all the redevelopment that happened around it. You can go inside.

The tower is temporarily closed (only open in the summer), but still worth going and having a look, I spotted it by chance walking some distance away and just wondered what the tall tower was so quickly checked it on Google. The tower is architecturally picturesque and it’s a shame that many seem to just walk past without noticing too much, the story of the tower is very interesting and worth having a read!

Visit booked 1 month in advance, cancelled by email 3 days before "for work"! Unserious! And very annoying when you come from Province and plan a schedule of visits to Paris.

A place too little known but which contains such an interesting history! Adorable guide and pedagogue who takes us up the 300 steps of the tower of Saint Jacques while following its history. One of the most beautiful views of Paris as a reward! I can't believe it.

The Saint-Jacques Tower is the bell tower of the Saint-Jacques Church, built in 1509 - 1523 in the Gothic style. The church has not survived to this day.

Mandatory guided tour (1 hour) with interesting explanations about the history of the tower and its various uses, sometimes surprising, over the centuries, before reaching the top for magnificent views of Paris, 360°.

We have walked the Camino De Santiago already, so when we saw the clam shells in the sidewalk and found the St. James Tower, we had to book a tour. We did the guided tour in English, since my French is spotty in the least. Our guide was amazing, she was very knowledgeable and was able to answer our groups questions easily. The climb to the top is 300+ steps, steep steps…. But the view when we finally got to the top was amazing. We had about 20 minutes to catch our breath and enjoy the views. It was definitely worth the price especially since we are peregrinos of “The Way”.
