Cafe Uhrlaub

I walked in here at night, thinking I'd hit the jackpot &get some authentic German food. A narrow entry with 4 people dining. I walked through to the bar area, and was told by the waiter I could go and sit anywhere. He told me I should take the menu with me, and he would come by in a couple of minutes. Aside from the menu cover being dirty & sticky, the contents looked good. After 10 minutes of being ignored, I put on my coat and left. Now that I've read the recent reviews, especially from those longer- time customers, it's probably a good thing I left. I was also somewhat surprised to see the kitschy Santa Claus seat covers already in place in the first 3 days of November. It looked good from the outside, so too bad for the zero service in a basically empty restaurant. The Portuguese/ Spanish restaurant a few doors down was very good

An unexpected gem! Lovely decorations, good advice not to order two dishes, for would have been way too much food AND a GREAT main course dish! Was the highlight of my day to eat there after a long distance traveling.

Lovely brunch. As a UK expat I loved the English breakfast. It came with cornflakes too which was a hilarious and fun addition. Schnitzel also so good and staff were kind and attentive. Will come by next time in Hamburg!

We went this based on Google recommendation! A very nice cafe and bar with amazing breakfast options! The ambience is very nice and antique! Food was great! Coffee was amazing. Definitely will recommend this place, in case you are looking for option for breakfast or drinks in the evening! The place is quiet happening! Payment has to be made in Cash. And I think because of shortage of staff it took a while to get the order and bill!

We made a reservation for 9pm on Sunday which had been accepted. We arrived and welcomed to an empty restaurant. The waiter told us that we could sit anywhere and gave us the menus and left to go at the back of the restaurant. When he came back, we said we wanted to order and he told us that the kitchen was closed already and no food was available. Really don't understand why they accepted a reservation after all.
