São Luís Pride (Parada do Orgulho LGBTQIA+)

São Luís Pride, the Parada do Orgulho LGBTQIA+ de São Luís, is organised by Grupo Gayvota, the oldest LGBT group still active in Maranhão. The parade has run since 2004, with some gaps, and since 2007 it has closed a Pride Week (Semana do Orgulho) of seminars, workshops, sport and the Gayvota human rights award. It's usually held in late August. The 20th Pride Week ran from 26 to 31 August 2025 and ended with the parade on Sunday 31 August from 3 pm on Avenida Litorânea, the seafront promenade in Calhau. Earlier routes ran through the Centro (Convento das Mercês to Praça Maria Aragão in 2018) and along Praia de São Marcos in 2022.
