Hotel Van Zandt

**This review is in relation to the valet parking used by both hotel and Geraldine’s. I was not a guest at the hotel** 3 hours of parking is covered by Geraldine’s and you will get charged if you are over time. Valet charged me $40 because I was flagged as late by their system since according to the “automated system” I arrived at 6:25pm and picked up my car at 9:27pm, so I was late by 2 minutes according to the system. I had dropped my car off at around 6:30pm. My coworkers who arrived to the dinner BEFORE me and picked their cars up AFTER me (literally - since they were behind me in line) were flagged as within the 3 hours, so they didn’t have to pay, and interestingly enough, their cars were ready before mine. This felt very targeted that I got charged because of the system while others didn’t - with their times being different than the actual times (they said that coworker #1 arrived 6:30pm and picked up at 9:24pm and coworker #2 picked up at 9:19) - simply untrue because it was definitely around 9:27 or later for them. Incredibly disappointed.

I chose to stay at the Van Zandt because I had some critical business meetings and wanted to be able to leverage the beautiful lobby and cafe. I have the Chase Sapphire Reserve card and this is "the Edit" property. This means I get a $250 credit on my next statement and a whole host of additional benefits and amenities, as you can see from the letter. This included a $100 credit on dining, mini bar, etc. The benefit is fantastic if you are a couple because you got $30 per person per day. That's $60 for breakfast. When I arrived the kind gentleman at reception welcomed me with two drink vouchers I could use for drip coffee or an old-fashioned or margarita at the bar, plus the letter. He carefully and thoughtfully went through everything. I was able to get a room upgrade to a studio suite. I had dinner the first night at Geraldine's. I will do a second review on the restaurant but I can say it was absolutely fantastic. The food was excellent and the service was impeccable. I can imagine it gets pretty loud on weekends because they also have live music but for a quiet Sunday it was really great. All in all I had a really excellent and restful time. Staff was fantastic and I would highly recommend going to the Van Zandt for business or pleasure. Of note they are no longer a Kimpton or IHG hotel so be aware of that before booking

As an interfaith wedding rabbi and officiant, I have had the privilege of officiating weddings in many wonderful venues over the years. Every element felt thoughtfully curated and intentionally designed. The staff was professional, attentive, and a pleasure to work with throughout the event. Their experience and dedication helped ensure that everything unfolded smoothly while allowing the couple and their guests to fully enjoy the celebration. Multiple couples have praised the team's responsiveness, hospitality, and ability to execute complex wedding weekends seamlessly. I would gladly recommend Hotel Van Zandt to any couple looking for a wedding venue that combines exceptional hospitality, creative energy, and the authentic spirit of Austin. It is a place where individuality is celebrated, memories are made, and a wedding feels every bit as unique as the couple at its center.

I was staying at the hotel for a conference. Thursday night was super crowded, there was noise from the street, and made it difficult to sleep. Navigating the hotel was difficult that day as well. In the early morning when I left, there were people still coming back from the bars and a general unsavory crowd. It you are looking to stay for business, you may want to stay somewhere else.

Hotel Van Zandt provides a really comfortable stay for their guests. There were lots of little details that made the stay comfortable—plenty of towels, lots of in-room snack/drink options, sheer and blackout curtain options, lots of pillows, clean rooms, dimmer settings on lamps, sound machine, drink/coffee tokens, great location..this is a solid choice for a reliable hotel in downtown Austin.
