Montgomery Pride United

Montgomery Pride United (MPU) is the capital's principal LGBTQ+ nonprofit, founded in 2015. It operates the Bayard Rustin Community Center at 635 Madison Avenue in downtown Montgomery, a walk-in space that hosts youth programming, a Little Free Pantry, transgender and gender-nonconforming support, and services for LGBTQ+ seniors. MPU also organizes Montgomery's annual Pride celebration, held each October at the historic Union Station Trainshed, and runs mixers, educational programs, and advocacy work throughout the year. In a state with few dedicated LGBTQ+ venues, the organization functions as the city's main community anchor.
