The Jane Hotel

I'm very happy.

I stayed for 4 nights and 5 days. All the staff were so kind, and the two Black female staff members were especially, incredibly, incredibly friendly❣️ We used the bunk bed in a double room; I was aware the room was small, so it wasn't a big issue. Although storage was a bit of a hassle, since it is located right in the city center, it is perfect for just sleeping while out and about. For this price, it is absolutely the best👍

The room was tiny, and the bathroom was shared, not en-suite. They provided all the necessary toiletries. The service was good, but breakfast was a takeaway; there was no physical space to eat, no tables or chairs, and it only consisted of drinks, nothing to eat. The hotel provides bottled water for refills and laundry services for $2.

Affordable accommodations in Greenwich village. It gets more and more expensive each time but it is still cheaper than any other respectable options.

UPDATE: They seem to have lowered their prices recently...I'm married to a Retired Disabled Army Veteran. Although I don't think that it's their standard policy, it never hurts to ask nicely for a military discount. I'm an Actress on stage and screen, so I have to travel from my home in Boston to Manhattan for both auditions and for performing. If you just want to have a place to sleep (with free WiFi, a safe, cable television, a charging station, AC), are traveling alone, enjoy historical buildings, and can handle sharing a bathroom (which is incredibly clean and close to your room), The Jane Hotel is perfect. Everything is within walking distance and the hotel offers their residents free use of bicycles too. PERFECT for actors who want to stay near Penn Station. To all of my fellow professional actors who happen to be searching for a decent place to crash for a night or two, you can't find a more convenient location at this price. NO HOTEL is closer to Broadway and other Theater/Film venues than right here! I have been a loyal guest here since 2010. (I'm also a HUGE buff of all of the history regarding the Titanic, and the survivors were interviewed here too).

Okay the rooms and shared bathrooms were cleanish is how I’d describe it. If you looked behind the bed, which I had to do because my phone fell, the floor was pretty gross. If you need to stay here bring shower clogs and your own pillowcase. Or find somewhere else to stay. The staff was lovely!

You could go mad here. It's literally a closet with a bed in it. Almost like a jail cell. If you did go mad you couldn't throw yourself out the window because the opening is too small. Very clean room, but there was a smell lingering. The communal toilets were each in their own tiny closet, with very little ventilation, and some people don't eat as healthy as we do, and there's no air freshener. Single bed felt great, maybe because I was traveling tired, or maybe because the mattress was on a wooden platform. Anyway, nice and solid. I may stay again.

Convenient location, minimalist amenities. Great neighborhood, totally walkable, restaurants and other retail easily available. Hotel bar was fine, as a single female I hadn’t any problems. Staff was adequate. I reported a mouse in my room and asked to switch rooms. The manager said mice are part of living downtown. I live in downtown Chicago and haven’t had any infestation anywhere. I’d do it again, I know what to expect.

Disappointing and Misleading... I booked The Jane Hotel largely because of its history and the unique amenities advertised on its website. Unfortunately, my experience did not reflect what is being marketed. Upon arrival, the first room I was given was unbearably hot—close to 100 degrees, in the middle of winter. When I asked housekeeping how to turn off the heater, I was told to simply open the window and turn on the air conditioning. Running the heater and AC simultaneously seemed like an unreasonable solution, and to make matters worse, the AC unit in that room didn’t work at all. I went to the front desk to report the issue and also asked where the bar was so my friend and I could grab a drink. I was then informed that none of the bar, lounge, or rooftop amenities are available anymore. Apparently, more than half of the building has been sold to a private club, and hotel guests no longer have access. This was extremely frustrating, as those amenities were a major reason I chose this hotel in the first place. The rooms themselves were also disappointing. The bunk-bed setup felt more like a boiler room than a boutique hotel, and aside from the bed, none of the amenities promoted on the website were actually available. I was initially excited to stay here because of the hotel’s connection to Titanic history, but even that aspect felt mishandled. The room door signs—one side showing a bell and the other a skull and crossbones—felt disrespectful and inappropriate given the real tragedy they reference. I did sleep there, but ultimately decided to leave a full day early because I was simply tired of dealing with the overall experience. This hotel may have once been something special, but in its current state, it feels misleading, poorly managed, and not worth the price or hype.
