The Jane hotel is now branded as the WEST VILLAGE EUROHOSTEL.same location .113 Jane street. good for 1-2 nights. AC works. But bathrooms are 2 stalls for lot of rooms although i did not face any issue. Great location and good value for money esp good for solo travellers. well maintained... very extensive book collection in lobby . staff were nice too.

This place has great service and very reasonably priced amenities, but the fourth floor is clearly being used as a homeless shelter, and after the first night I found dead BEDBUGS in the both the shared toilet and shower. Someone on the fourth floor has a severe infestation. The reaction of the housekeeper to this news was "oh good, it's dead, they must have sprayed already". The manager on shift moved me to another room while assuaging me with statements like "we haven't had any reports in quite some time [and they turned out to be false]." I saw no evidence of activity in either room that I was placed in, but developed a skin reaction a day later in a few areas. I don't recommend this place at all if they don't take this kind thing seriously. It's a shame because the staff, amenities, and location are otherwise great. It's not worth it!

Although shared amenities, I've experienced no issues, and was surprised by the amount of normal guests at this property. The staff is effective, knowledgeable, professional, and most of them have a tenured history at this establishment. If you're sensitive to smoke or firm beds, you might not want to stay longer than 1 night. The owner should consider paying for a solution to help mitigate the inconsiderate guests who smoke nicotine and marijuana inside their rooms. The window access in each of the rooms assists with the smells, and air purifiers are available. It's not perfect, so if you're not out and about, that could affect your stay. I will also add the only ghostly thing I've seen staying there are the less than 3 digit rates, which died when the new owners took over unfortunately. There is no bar, so don't expect to have a fun restaurant or bar in the building. Barbuto and Bar Tizio on the next block are the closest.
