Summer Place Hotel

I had a terrible experience at this hotel. The rooms were never cleaned, the bedsheets and towels were dirty, and the floors were covered in dust. I even found mold inside the fridge. The owners were extremely rude and disrespectful, showing no courtesy or hospitality to guests. I genuinely felt unsafe during my stay and was shocked by the overall condition of the place. I strongly advise others not to book this hotel. It’s hard to believe the county health department would allow such an unsanitary establishment to operate.

I will say it's close to the beach, but it was absolutely the most disgusting hotel I've ever stayed in. For the cheap price, I wasn't expecting a fancy room or even anything too nice, but I did expect a clean room. The comforter was stained and dirty looking. We turned it down to find long hairs in on the sheets. They were also in the shower. The mattress was old, noisy and you could feel the springs poking through. The hallway was cluttered and messy. The key was waiting at the front desk, so there was no one to complain to. When we checked out in the morning, a shirtless guy came out of the back. He told us we should have told him the night before about our complaints, but there was no one to be found. Best of all, after we left, the hotel tried to charge my husband's card a second time. Horrible place to stay, a total nightmare.

⚠️ Warning: Do NOT book a stay here. It is not worth your safety or comfort to save a few extra bucks. We made a last-minute decision to stay overnight in Rehoboth Beach instead of driving home, and this place seemed like a quick, affordable option. Big mistake. First red flag: the listing clearly stated checkout at 11 a.m., but when we arrived, we were told checkout was at 10 a.m. because the owner “has things to do.” Extremely unprofessional. Second, you actually have to pay an additional $7 if you want to take a hot bath/shower. That alone is absurd. The conditions were terrible: • Water leaking onto the floor from the fridge. • Filthy floors that clearly hadn’t been cleaned. • Cracks and mold throughout the room. • Overall unsafe atmosphere — there were sketchy characters hanging around, making it feel more like a halfway house than a hotel. The whole environment felt unsafe and very sketchy. Please save yourself the stress and avoid this place altogether. Spend the extra money on a reputable hotel—it’s worth it for your safety, cleanliness, and peace of mind.

Checked out before the end of my stay because I could not stay here and risk my family’s safety for the sake getting a good deal on a room. This place was giving more of a HALFWAY HOUSE than a hotel and Expedia and hotels.com should be ashamed to even have this place listed as a “hotel”. I had to step over a vagrant/ passed out lady in front of the late check-in box to get my hotel key and it was only 8 pm. When we got In the room there was a dirty mop bucket and mop left on the floor , bed was made but sheets were dirty and sandy. THE AUDACITY to tuck in a dirty comforter over dirty sheets is so disturbing to me. I stayed here once before on season and it mostly young couples or singles needing a cheap room, but off season it was drug users splitting a room with 3 others and partying until like 6 am. The vagrant lady I had to step over to get my hotel keys was later trying to break into other people’s rooms at all hours of the night and was insanely drunk. I heard her falling down in the hallway in front of my door at 5 am and then some men collecting her at like 520? All of this happening while I have my toddler on the other side of the wall . Anyway it’s all on the security camera positioned directly above my door but the owner isn’t addressing my safety concerns or request for a refund. This place should not be called a hotel because there is no hospitality or service usually associated with a hotel involved. it is a step up from a campsite, or homeless shelter. I my family’s safety is a priority to me and I will not stay anywhere that compromises that in any way. If you love your family do not let them stay here, spend 20 dollars more per night and have a safer and more enjoyable stay in Dewey beach down the road.

Where do I start. The place smelled like stale cigarette smoke and mold. There was hairs between the sheets, the fridge didn't work, the light fixtures were broken, the AC might as well have not been in the room and the floor was gritty. The door and lock was a weak shove away from breaking. Would not recommend for kids or women traveling alone.

We stayed at summer place this past weekend 8/12-8/15 and first off I'd truly say this place has Loads of potential but it severely unkept and under maintenenced the location is amazing literally steps away from the board walk and to the local town but if you are a boujie person I suggest you look elsewhere this was more of like a boarding home where rooms were super small and you can hear everything from neighbors. Our particular experience was survivable and thats putting it nicely, our room had an AC unit that had mold spores all on the vent and also signs of mold on the doorway and bed frames of the bed so please have that vinegar/water mix ready. The AC unit was poorly placed low set in the window which means it's literally hitting the bed and not cooling of the room it took 4 days of running it to cool off the room. The employee there doesn't seem interested in any complaints or requests. The bathroom was actually decent and NOT moldy which suprised us because there were spores def in the room itself. It seems anyone can rent rooms we had a hoarding situation next door to us they NEVER slept and they were smoking in the room in a NON smoking building which is posted on every door and I'm certain much more because all random types of people were knocking on their door at all times...but that's their business. Let's just say this is a very sketchy place if you aren't built tough or have tough skin this place will freak and skeeve you out everyone and everything in this place was sketchy and the doors aren't secure enough for the amount of random foot traffic this place gets and not from the people staying there. So I would give this place a 0 if it wasn't for the access to the beach and strip. Oh and the sheets we never slept under the covers we made our own bed on top of the bed because it was literally gross and looked like someone left and they never cleaned it. Use caution when booking here that's all I gotta say especially if you are a person who like to stay in the room on vacay this isn't a lounger this a shower lay your head and be out type of room. Dwelling may be dangerous lml....also check in is 3pm (insane) and check out is 10am (insane) they claim clenaing is from 10-12 but the rooms were all half ass and we only saw 1 cleaner the whole stay and she looked half ass barely was cleaning anything anywho proceed with caution.

Leaving this review to hopefully help others before they make the same mistake we did by staying here. The rooms in this hotel are grotesque. Black mold caked inside the non-functioning air conditioner, broken window shades, unwashed sheets, sticky floors, paper thin doors with non-functioning locks, and stained walls are just some of the issues we had to deal with while staying here just one night. We thought the location would make up for these issues, but we were wrong. By far the worst “hotel” I’ve ever stayed in.
