I would definitively NOT recommend anyone to stay at Hotel Kabuki: the staff and management have an attitude that they are above their guests and treat their guests rudely. They are listed as a 4-star Hyatt hotel but they operate like a 1-star motel. I've stayed many times at a real 4-star Hyatt hotel and Hotel Kabuki is listed as a Hyatt in name only. The rooms are stale and dirty upon arrival: for example, there were crumbs under the desk. In addition, the sheets smelled and looked used, not clean, even after the maid "changed" the sheets. I suspect she re-used the same sheets because she did not come into the room with new sheets. She only re-made the bed. All the blankets are disgustingly dirty and worn the entire time of our stay, which was 3 nights. The lobby of this hotel might appear to be a 4-star hotel, but the behavior of the staff and management are similar to a 1-star hotel. The condition of the rooms is old, stale, and dirty: I stayed in a suite with a kingsize bed in the bedroom and a pull-out couch in the living room and "access" to the garden (access meaning opening the hard-to-open glass door and jumping over a cement wall to get to the garden - no-one goes there because of the difficulty getting to the garden from the suite). The only thing that makes Hotel Kabuki a 4-star hotel is their price. In staff, management, and the cleanliness of their rooms, they are a 1-star motel.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Kabuki for the first night of our honeymoon, and it was one of the most overpriced, underwhelming hotel experiences I’ve ever had. To make matters worse, the hotel knew it was our honeymoon. Apparently that translated into “charge them more.” A few highlights from our $500-for-one-night experience: - Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived. Instead of apologizing properly, they upsold us an “upgraded” room for an extra $30, which I stupidly agreed to. I shudder to think of what the un-upgraded room would have looked like. - That “upgrade” was completely mediocre — honestly no better than the standard Marriott Bonvoy we checked into the next day....for HALF the price for TWO nights. - The Marriott also included a free breakfast buffet, while Hotel Kabuki wanted an absurd $32 PER PERSON for breakfast. - The walls at Hotel Kabuki are paper thin. We were on the 10th floor and could still hear street noise all night long. - The room only had ONE chair, which feels ridiculous for a hotel charging luxury prices for couples. - Nothing about the room felt premium, memorable, romantic, or worth the cost. Look, I know it's San Francisco, and San Francisco is pricey, which I fully expected. BUT....for $500 on the first night of our honeymoon, I expected something special, beautiful, and romantic. Instead, we literally wasted our money, barely slept, and left wondering where the money actually went. We were so disappointed we checked out, went to McDonald's for breakfast, and went to stay somewhere else. Hotel Kabuki charges luxury hotel prices for what ultimately felt like a mid-tier hotel with worse value and more noise. I'll be calling Hyatt (who owns Hotel Kabuki) and asking for some kind of refund. STAY ELSEWHERE AND SAVE YOUR MONEY!!
