The waiter cooks while wearing the same gloves, takes the bill with a blank look on his face, and goes back to cooking without even sanitizing them. He also wears the same gloves when he brings the food, and the gloves are soaked in the udon broth. I don't know why they're wearing gloves, but they were so dirty that I felt sick. Is there any point in wearing gloves in a restaurant? I think it's much more hygienic to wash your hands frequently. Are the gloves simply there to prevent skin irritation? The sad thing about this place is that there are no options.
Went to this place en-route to Kyoto Railway Museum. Actually we bought some bento at Kyoto Station and intended to eat in the Umekoji Park, but as it got quite cold and looks to be on the verge of raining, we went inside and ordered some food. We ordered a vegetable pizza, vegetable curry rice, and french fries. The food was so-so, nothing particularly memorable. The place was clean and was quite child-friendly.
Umekoji Park and Playground is great for toddlers to older kids. The Cafe is the only option in viewing distance of playground, but only if you are being attentive to the kids you are trying to watch. We were without snacks so we ordered a pizza with corn and french fries. Was edible but nothing we would want again. Cannot say how good the Japanese cuisine choices are so hence I'm giving the Cafe an average rating and recommend you stay away from Western choices.
It's spacious, has a cafe, and is really great. You can even bring your dog.
It's about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station, and it's a great park for walks and leisure activities all year round. It's a hidden gem of a leisure facility with an aquarium, a railway museum, and a hotel.
Beautiful beach, excellent services. Worth seeing.

Good place for a walk
I went on a pilgrimage to Umekoji Park, the place where Naruse Akari is said to have practiced kendama. I walked through the park, trying to recapture the atmosphere of the place that Nishiura-kun accidentally witnessed. I was enveloped in the illusion that I could hear the sound of the kendama, and I imagined Naruse's focused profile. Sitting on a bench, I combined the surprise that Nishiura-kun felt at the time with the quiet breeze of the park. Even though I was among the tourists, only Naruse's presence remained vividly in my memory. Finally, I stopped by the pond and imagined what it would be like if Naruse were here now. The quiet afternoon in Umekoji Park was a strange time where a scene from the work and reality overlapped. I felt that it was a place I wanted to visit again, and I left the park quietly, leaving a lingering feeling in my heart.
A lovely, open, and clean park in Kyoto! Umekoji Park is a wonderful place to take a break, go for a peaceful stroll, or relax after visiting the nearby aquarium or railway museum. It's extremely accessible, located right next to Umekõji-Kyõtonishi Station and a short walk from Kyoto Station. Great atmosphere, spacious lawns, and friendly vibes. Highly recommend stopping by.
There are so many mosquitoes.
It's a really big park with lots of food stalls. They even have an old city tram on display, which was fun.
I liked this park a lot because of train sculptures all over it, but apart from that it does not have anything other to offer. It was well maintained and there was not a lot of people but I would not call it quite because of the railway near by.
The playground equipment seemed just right for children aged 5 to 12. My daughter was 6 years old at the time, and I would say it was one of the best parks we've visited in the last few years.
