Salvator Sauna Club

I absolutely love it. It's so warm and inviting. It's very straightforward, no-nonsense, but friendly. A real pleasure.

I was very, very disappointed with this establishment. The place is in a disastrous state (poor maintenance, paintwork needs redoing, the spa has been out of order for several months (a guest told me), they're playing movies from the 80s, etc.). The clientele is mostly elderly (I'm not criticizing, but they're doing nothing to attract a different clientele).

No comment! The friendliness of the reception staff varies depending on the customer's appearance and ethnicity...

The receptionist was super friendly, the place was clean, and the facilities were great. The jacuzzi was out of order, but that happens... I had some lovely encounters, and I'll definitely be back as soon as possible.

I hadn't been there in a long time, and the atmosphere hadn't changed—still as hot as ever. I had a blast, especially with a guy named Mario. We spent a long time sharing several rooms in the establishment… However, what a disappointment to no longer have a jacuzzi. It can't be that expensive to fix, and the worst part is the upstairs shower, converted into a squat toilet for enemas without a properly sealed door. It stinks of shit! What a shame that the best meeting place in Marseille is left to fall into disrepair like this. With the revenue generated by the crowds, they could and should have more maintenance for everyone's enjoyment. It doesn't make me want to go back at all!!! Or maybe to see Mario again!

Update July 2025: The jacuzzi broke down, and the owner can't find the part to fix it. The real problem is: instead of doing simple renovations to discreetly save money (=> if I were the owner, I would have demolished the jacuzzi, retiled the entire room, added new benches, and simply enlarged the steam room by creating a new room at the back and installing a steam room door between the sauna and the old jacuzzi), he preferred to put cushions in the disused jacuzzi and a €99 TV from Lidl, hoping no one would notice. It looks incredibly shabby. It almost gives the false impression of a failing establishment (which isn't the case, see below), which isn't very reassuring. The clientele is still there, but they're not fooled. Quick, change all this! The community dilemma at this establishment is: Where do you go if you're part of the Marseille bear community? The sauna at the thermal baths is great, but only if you're not a bear or are older. It's a fantastic sauna for the youngsters at Basic Fit! The Cargo: a very nice sauna, but incredibly boring. It's a very (too?) relaxing sauna, and you only go there to relax and try to chat with German tourists who just pop in for a drink and leave pretty quickly. And that's it. We've seen it all, and we still end up back at the Salvator... What a tragedy. The root of the internal problem at Salvator (a rumor I find credible but needs verification) is that they're currently facing a temporary administrative impasse. Let's hope their problem is resolved quickly or that they finally find a more reliable and permanent address (if you ever see that Salvator is closed, it will actually be good news because they'll finally be somewhere else in newer, more modern premises; we'll just have to find their new address!), and for us as well. Otherwise, it's one of the only "bear" saunas in the department. Clean, friendly, clientele of all ages, from 18 to 70, often full (other saunas in Marseille never are, which shows it's one of the best in Marseille, and if there are no changing rooms available, they offer bags for your clothes that you leave at reception under supervision). It hasn't changed much since the 1990s (okay, some people point that out the neutral decor and lack of colorful LED lighting), but it's still very well maintained (paint, tiles, and handrails are replaced regularly) and thoroughly cleaned every morning. Always spotless when it opens! The only thing is, when it's crowded, customers should be more considerate and not litter (even though there are trash cans everywhere). The welcome is warm and courteous. But it's a sauna for bears, thirty-somethings, and older people too. The atmosphere is just as hot as the hammam upstairs, which is what makes it so popular, and condoms are freely available in every corridor. That says it all.

I went there on a Friday, it was great. I wanted to go back the next day at 7 pm, the owner told me there was no one there and invited me to come back – very honest! I recommend it.

The jacuzzi has been out of order for weeks. The establishment is outdated with a clientele that isn't being renewed. What a disappointment!

Nice place, there are all ages, but mostly mature, even very mature, the Jacuzzi is still, full of dust, it hasn't worked for a long time, I had a coffee, which was disgusting, not even good for pigs, then I looked at the coffee machine and the water container had dark water inside.... how disgusting, let's hope we don't have any problems....

Ideally located in the city center. Very welcoming, large and clean sauna. Much busier on Sundays than other days of the week. I go regularly and have a great time.
