Hopper Hotel et cetera

My wife and I stayed at this hotel. Overall, we had a pleasant stay, however, there was one aspect of the room that bothered us somewhat. What we really liked: Beautiful area: The hotel is located in a truly wonderful setting, perfect for relaxation and offering a great base for excursions. Friendly staff: The entire team was consistently friendly, attentive, and very helpful. There was absolutely nothing to complain about regarding the service. The weak point (room layout): Lack of privacy in the bathroom: The bathroom is unfortunately very poorly designed. The shower door doesn't close properly, and the entire bathroom area isn't completely enclosed from the room. This is quite unfortunate for couples or people who value privacy in the bathroom. You can hear and see too much of your partner, which we found uncomfortable.

Great hotel, great staff, and a great location. Everything is within a half-hour walk, and the surrounding area has everything you need. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The room and breakfast were also fantastic and comfortable. Highly recommended if you want to explore Cologne.

We booked this hotel as part of a package deal that included a musical. The rooms are very small (max. 12 sq m) with a very narrow bed for two people. The shower is by far the worst I've ever used. Small, fixed shower head that sprays water in a thin stream, and no shower door. The description states that the rooms are at least 18 sq m. This is not the case. Breakfast is quite alright and includes the usual items. The distance to the old town and the Rhine riverbank is easily manageable on foot.

Our stay at the Hopper Hotel St. Josef started off positively: at check-in, we were informed that we would receive an "upgrade" to our already booked room category – but only in English, even though we were German-speaking guests who had checked in in Germany. A bit odd, but naturally, we were initially pleased. We were promised a nice room with a large bed. However, when we entered the room (No. 01, right next to reception, through a door into a darker lower area), our initial enthusiasm quickly turned to disappointment. While the room had high ceilings, it felt very dark overall and rather cramped due to the double bed and the closely spaced furniture. If this was supposed to be an "upgrade," we honestly don't want to know what the lower categories are like. The furnishings were very minimalist. The television was hidden behind a flap and was technically outdated, as was the old iPhone docking station. On the positive side, both the bathroom and the rest of the room were clean. We initially thought we'd only stay one night, "It'll be fine." Unfortunately, we were woken up the next morning around 6:30 by loud footsteps and chairs scraping. The reason became clear at breakfast: our room was directly below the dining room. Breakfast itself was also disappointing – food kept lukewarm without any care and tiny, barely baked rolls. We found the check-out particularly disappointing: no one asked if we were satisfied or if everything was alright. Instead, they simply charged us the tourist tax – and that was it. Overall, we find it difficult to give this stay a positive review.

Beautiful rooms with fantastic design ideas! Very well thought out and visually stunning! Very friendly staff. Superb breakfast and a spectacular breakfast room!

What impressed me most about Cologne was this hotel and its surroundings. The hotel has a special history, a special atmosphere, a historical and modern interior, a good breakfast. Excellent restaurant Müllers and bistro Cake and Cremant around the corner, basically I was thrilled

I had to pay €280 for a single room for one night. The room was very small and not clean. There was a thick layer of dust on the floor, the light didn't work, and the "Bluetooth Box" mentioned in the hotel description was only compatible with very old iPhones and couldn't be paired via Bluetooth, making it completely useless. My parents had a different room, which was just as bad, but at least cleaner. However, they were very dissatisfied because public television wasn't available. For that price, you really expect something different. I voiced my complaints at reception, but I doubt they'll take them seriously. The breakfast and the location were at least acceptable. We definitely won't be coming back.

We felt very comfortable. The location is excellent, the room is high-quality and well-designed.

I always write reviews but this is different. I would give this hotel 10 stars if I could. We all expect a standard of course, but it is only when we need help do we really appreciate and value the people at a hotel. The hotel itself was a church and maintains the stained windows Nadins beautiful. However, for first time in my life, I left my phone in the taxi. Extremely stressful hour as it turned out, but was made better and easier with the help of Suzanna , Nik and Christophe! All was sorted but I cannot write/explain enough , the thanks and appreciation I have for them. I go to Cologne every year to FIBO, always changing the hotel to see different areas. Next April I will be back here if not before because when you receive and see wonderful, helpful people like this, I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Thank you and God Bless!
