Cleaners had set all the radiators to max before we arrived. Fire alarm went off twice in the night waking us up, then again when we tried to make breakfast. There are handwritten! instructions there to reset the alarm so it obviously happens all the time. Most of the shower heads/slide bars were broken and the property was generally in a poor state. Thirty plates but only four dinner knives! Avoid!

The room was not cleaned when I arrived. There was a used contact lens on the towel, the bed was unmade, and there was a cigarette butt on the floor. An unattended oven was running hot in the communal kitchen with nothing inside. It appeared that someone forgot to turn it off, which struck me as hazardous given the fact that no management was present in person. Given these conditions, I decided to make other arrangements. I hoped to be refunded for the cost of my stay, but management has been difficult to reach. When I expressed these concerns over the phone the man I talked to was polite, but he was unable to help me with a refund. My emails have gone unanswered for multiple days now. Very disappointing since I was looking forward to staying here.

B&B without breakfast; we never saw the host. The bathroom in the room was very small. Otherwise okay and a very good location.

It’s no longer a B&B! It changed ownership between the time we booked the room back in June and when we checked in a few days ago. We specifically booked this property because of the B&B charm with a well-reviewed host and breakfast provided. The new property management company did email us about one week before check in informing us of the change and they they no longer offered breakfast (they didn’t offer any type of compensation for this; simply an offer to provide us with nearby breakfast recommendations) and we’d have self check in so there was no friendly host like we experienced everywhere else in our Scotland travels. Very disappointing! While the new management company did say in their email that if we were unhappy with the change we could request a full refund, but this notice went out so close to our check in date, it would be a daunting task to find similar, available accommodations on such short notice. We were pretty bummed about this as the reviews for the original owner were glowing! Otherwise, The room with a view was spacious with a comfortable bed, the house is really cute and the location is great — walking distance to the main city center but far away from the noise. Would be a really cool place if only it was still privately owned with breakfast included like was promised when we originally booked this “B&B”. They need to change their sign outside as it’s obviously very misleading.
