Maspalomas Dunes

Mind blowing. It is worth hiking across the dunes if you are able to. It was quite windy but that added to the experience for us. There are pockets of greenery amongst the sand. The sand is so fine it runs through you fingers. Be mindful that the adjacent beach is a naturist beach but we didn't mind that. The dunes are a sight to behold and a must visit place. We took the bus from the station in Las Palmas which was reasonably priced and very reliable

The dunes feel like stepping into a miniature Sahara placed right on the coast of Gran Canaria. Endless waves of golden sand stretch toward the ocean, constantly reshaped by the wind, so the landscape never looks exactly the same twice. Walking through them is peaceful and almost surreal — just soft sand under your feet, the sound of the breeze, and the Atlantic appearing suddenly behind the hills of dunes. Sunrise and sunset are especially magical, when the light paints long shadows and the sand turns deep amber. It’s not just a beach; it’s an experience. Calm, cinematic, and surprisingly vast — one of the most unique natural spots on the island and absolutely worth visiting.

The dunes in Maspalomas are a vast stretch of golden sand right next to the beach, giving it a real desert-like feel. There’s no entrance fee and no set route - you can simply walk around and explore at your own pace. When we visited, the weather was very unusual - thick, dark clouds on one side and a clear blue sky on the other. It made the place feel even more dramatic and unique. Worth visiting while in Maspalomas.

If you enjoy sand, then this is the place for you. Understandably one of the most popular places to visit in Gran Canaria. Be prepared to wash sand out of your ears, shoes, and pockets later in the day. Also, be prepared to see nudists the closer you get to the sea. This place is 100% worth a visit. Bring a tennis ball or an american football and enjoy some throwing and catching fun!

An incredible natural landscape that feels totally different from the rest of the island. Endless golden dunes, open skies, and a peaceful atmosphere, especially early morning or near sunset. Absolutely worth seeing.
