Dernwood Farm Glamping & Kamp Alanı

I’ve camped from fairly plush sites in England, Wales and Norway down to doing for the past few years wild camping (properly, not fly-tenting)) on Dartmoor so wondered, facing my first visit, what I’d make of Dernwood and it’s facilities. I needn’t have worried. Despite some pretty torrential showers my wife and I had one of the best week’s away we’ve had (even though we live less than 5 miles from it). It was well organised, very hospitable, and the loo and shower facilities, especially the latter, are very good. All the staff obviously take a lot of care and from what we saw this seemed to be reflected in virtually all campers’ attitude during our stay. Due to her disability my wife can no longer do the sort of camping we once did so being able to get away from it all with our now large tent yet so close to home has proven a real bonus and we’ll both be back. I also plan to return from time to time on my own with my smaller tent which will probably cheer her up even more.

Our second family camping trip and really enjoyed it at Dernwood. Don't be put off with the walk through the woods, it's totally worth it for the peace in the car free field. Lots of space and lots of freedom for young people to roam. The breakfast and brunch is excellent and filled me up most of the day. My tip is think about the sun when you pitch your tent, the side nearest the entrance gets the afternoon/evening sun and the furthest side gets the morning sun - ideal for a dry tent on departure day. We used the site as a base to visit Blackberry Farm as recommended in the website, Bodiam Castle, and a quick trip to the Gun Brewery. All recommended but also so much to do in the area.

We spent 3 lovely nights in the Oak tent at Dernwood Farm and absolutely loved it! The privacy was brilliant, and the tent itself was so cosy—despite a few rainy nights, it held up beautifully and stayed warm thanks to the chimney stove and candlelight. All cooking pots and pans were provided, which made things easy, and we especially enjoyed using the Dutch oven and cooking over the fire. The kids had a great time exploring the woods and riding their bikes around and to the farm's shop (our kid was the delivery man)—it was the perfect mix of freedom and adventure. The farm's own meat produce was delicious—so fresh and full of flavour—and the little shop was super handy for picking up extra bits for meals, which meant we didn’t need to pack loads of groceries. The tent also had a cooler, and Amanda kindly provided ice packs that could be swapped to keep drinks and fresh food chilled. Such a lovely experience—peaceful, practical, and packed with charm. We’ll definitely be back!

Dernwood Farm is beautiful and magical. The facilities, the grounds and service are impeccable, I’m keeping with keeping the area well kept and as natural as possible. The safari tent we stayed in was wonderful and the kids had an amazing time with lots to do. Amanda and the team couldn’t do enough for us and we are so grateful for making our stay as amazing as it was! We will definitely back next year! Oh and you have to try their own steaks burgers and sausages! So yum! Xx

We were wild camping at aderendo so brought our own tent. What an amazing few days we had. Quite literally magical. The owners of this family run business are just so welcoming and helpful and really lovely. We didn’t sample the cafe but it always smelled divine when we were passing. The location is stunning a real hidden gem!! The facilities are exactly enough for what you need without going over the top! Showers wash up loos all kept really clean and nice. Was so lovely to be able to bring the dogs and not have to have them on a lead the whole time. The other people wild camping were really friendly and respectful of each other. We will definitely be back! Some may see the 6 minute walk as a drawback from car to tent but the trolleys work brilliantly and I actually believe the 6 minute walk is all a big part of the experience in making it even more amazing!

We had an amazing weekend at Dernwood Farm. The atmosphere was lovely. Fellow campers were all very friendly which helped create a nice community vibe. The facilities were plenty for what we needed. Toilets/showers were never busy even though the campsite was quite full. The shuttle service to take our equipment from the car to the field was super helpful. We also really appreciated the flexible check out time. Very friendly owners. Would definitely return and would highly recommend!

Have just returned from a long bank holiday weekend at Dernwood. Wow, what a find! Amanda and her team are super friendly, and the cafe is a must for breakfast at least once during your stay. The site itself has a really chilled vibe. Even on this fully booked weekend there was plenty of space. Yes, there is a long walk from the car park to the campsite but that really helps ensure the authentic camping experience with no traffic/noise, and the wooded walk to get there is lovely. If you can, try and coincide your arrival/departure times with the quad squad shuttle runs. They were a godsend. I am sure we will be back!

Always a gorgeous time wild camping at Dernwood. As soon as you trundle your tent and belongings in trolleys from your car through the beautiful woods you feel yourself switch off and relax. The kids love disappearing into the woods to make dens and swing on the rope swings and the adults can hang out by the fire and enjoy the stars. We’ll be back!

Loved the open field and woodland. The farm shop and cafe offered some tasty treats and basic amenities. Open fires being allowed was a bonus. Felt very spacious. Shower block was a bit of a walk but otherwise brilliant campsite!

Very happy in one of three dedicated spots in The Encampment area on the bank holiday weekend. Gorgeous woods to explore, peaceful at night with the owls. Fire pit and seating provided to enjoy the natural world. Excellent cafe menu, can also shop there for items left behind , firewood, tasty treats and quality farm produce. Relaxing place with something for everyone and interesting places locally. (Plug for Farleys House and Gardens 2 miles away). super people and farm dogs nice and friendly x

We love this campsite so much we went twice this year. So beautiful, so easy, so accomodating and doesn’t feel busy even on an August bank holiday weekend. Can only recommend, (even if I’d like to keep it secret).
