Malmaison Newcastle

Sunday lunch today. Place was very quiet, now we know why. Beef was dry (well done shouldn't mean dry). Roast potatoes were dryer than dry. Cabbage was barely cooked and just didn't taste like Cabbage? Glazed carrots were lovely. Yorkshire pudding; let me tell you, size is not everything. They were huge but, again, dry as sticks. I'd tell you about the other veg but there was none! Apparently, there pork tomahawk was lovely. The creme brulee was nice but big enough to feed 4 adults. And we waited a good while for all of the above. The staff were accommodating and polite, the score doesn't relate to them but to the time it took for the food to arrive. We were expecting so much better, after previously dining at Mal Maison in York which totally exceeded expectations. Guess you can't win them all.

We recently hosted a surprise 90th birthday celebration for my mother-in-law at Malmaison Newcastle, and the experience exceeded all expectations. From the initial planning stages through to the event itself, the Malmaison team provided exceptional support and attention to detail. Their enthusiasm and commitment made us feel that they genuinely cared about the success of the occasion, which gave us complete confidence throughout the process. The celebration was a tremendous success, and our guest of honour had a truly memorable day. The catering was excellent, with delicious food enjoyed by all our guests. Those who stayed overnight were equally impressed by the high standard of the accommodation, finding the rooms comfortable, spotless, and beautifully maintained. What stood out most was the professionalism and warmth of every member of staff. Without exception, everyone we encountered was welcoming, attentive, and dedicated to providing first-class service. I rarely take the time to write reviews, but the outstanding experience we received deserves recognition. A sincere thank you to the entire team for helping us create such wonderful memories and for delivering an event that will be remembered for years to come.

100% great place to stay the most friendly staff brace meet in many years lovely rooms and great food

Amazing location and couldn’t recommend the bridge view rooms enough for the view. So lovely! Service was helpful, rooms clean and spacious. I used the gym during my visit and it was small and hot (and unfortunately the air con wouldn’t turn down!) but there was plenty of water and towels available and enough equipment to achieve a workout. Luckily I had the room to myself as it would be limited for space if there was multiple people in at one time. Only downside to my stay was that the onsite coffee shop provides Starbucks coffee which there is currently an international boycott of, and has been for some time. Not only that, the coffee isn’t even good so a shame to bring the quality down! A positive stay though.

A great hotel in a fantastic location at Quayside in Newcastle, directly opposite the Millennium bridge. Lots of bars and restaurants to try. We had a bridge view room, so we had a great view from our bed of the bridge at night, all lit up! Staff are really friendly and were very careful with my numerous food allergies. We were there on a DBB deal. Food was excellent. Parking is across the road in a multistorey car park. There are designated spaces for Malmaison residents, charged at £6 per night, and covered us up to 6pm on the day of departure. If in Newcastle again, we will definitely return to the Malmaison hotel.

Great hotel! Good location, nice rooms, and very friendly staff. However, there is some noise disturbance from a neighboring club/restaurant.

Good designer hotel on the Quayside, room with view over the river, great for the Glasshouse and food/drinks.

Double room with twinbeds was very nice. Excellent breakfast. Room comes with a fridge. TV screen shows an option to connect your own device, but you can't reach any of the HDMI plugs. Some people may want to watch their own shows or use the bigger screen when you have work to do on your laptop. No shower, only bathtub, uncomfortable for older people.

An excellent hotel

What a lovely hotel, all the staff were very welcoming. You have everything you need. We were attending the Sage Glasshouse, a perfect location 👌 we didn't eat dinner in the hotel, but we are booked in for breakfast. I am sure that will be very nice 🙂

Lovely decor fabulous rooms. Great location.

Stayed in room 207 which is a standard double room with a queen bed. Wished I had a better view but the room size was great and very surprising! Two TVs! Bed was really comfortable and because this room is tucked away there wasn’t any noise at all really which was nice. I think the price is a little too high for every day hotel stays but I get why it is. Nespresso machine in the room. Water in bath and shower wasn’t super hot which was okay but could have been warmer. Heating system worked really well and the room warmed up quickly. Lots of power sockets which is also good. It’s a nice hotel in a good location!
