Montréal's gay scene is excellent, centred on the Village along Rue Sainte-Catherine Est. It's one of North America's best gay neighbourhoods, and it keeps a real bathhouse culture to match — most of it packed onto one walkable strip.
Sauna Oasis
One of Montréal's most popular saunas, right in the Village on Sainte-Catherine Est and open around the clock. Inside there's a steam room, dry sauna, whirlpool, private cabins and a dark room, plus a bar area. Saturday afternoons are the busiest, and there are regular themed nights.
Sauna Centre-Ville
Almost directly across the street from Oasis, this one spreads over two floors and is also open 24 hours. You get a steam room, dry sauna, hot tub, private cabins, a maze and a sling room. Handy if you're staying central.
Sauna G.I.
The fetish-and-leather pick, and the biggest bathhouse in Québec: four floors and a rooftop terrace, with a steam room, dry sauna, hot tub, private cabins, a maze, dark rooms and slings. It reopened in 2024 after a fire and is back to its full events calendar. Also in the Village on Sainte-Catherine Est, open 24/7.
Bain Colonial
A short walk north of the Village near Sherbrooke metro, Bain Colonial has been a men's institution since 1994 (the building dates to 1914). It's the quieter, more spa-like option, and it runs the only natural-stone steam system in the city, alongside a dry sauna, whirlpool, dark room and two outdoor terraces.
Montréal's gay scene
The Village stretches along Rue Sainte-Catherine Est from Berri to Papineau, full of bars, clubs, restaurants and community spaces. Fierté Montréal (Montreal Pride) runs in early-to-mid August and is the largest Pride in the French-speaking world. Black & Blue, each October, is a huge international circuit-party weekend that draws tens of thousands.
