Hudson New York'ta Otel | St Charles Hotel

I was thinking one star but at least the room was somewhat clean. Kind of an interesting place. We checked in and the receptionist was as cold as anyone could be. Kind of strange. The room was small and only a queen bed. There are not many options in the area but wish we drove a little bit to someplace like Great Barrington.

The place is filthy dirty, over priced, I wouldn't let my dog stay there. We couldn't get our room until 8 o'clock at night, waited half hour in the lobby. The room smelled like smoke and mildew, exposed sewerage pipe in the room, dirty linens, torn curtains, piles of dirty linens in the hallways, cabinet door ripped off, with adjoining room door, etc., etc. And they had the audacity to charge $500 a night!!! I was told that the owner was out of town, and the manager seemed to be the only one working there, I saw no personnel other than him.Don't even think about booking a room with these people.

staying at this hotel was a baffling, disorienting, and all around unnerving experience. several times during my sojourn to Hudson, NY i felt that i was no longer of this earth; the St. Charles evades categorization. not a first, second, or third space, but rather a fourth one, like getting caught in a tesseract a la Interstellar (dir. nolan, 2014). the spacetime continuum… forget about it. it’s been torn asunder. the Charles retains a staff of individuals i believe to be phantoms of sorts, against whom i have no prejudice, but it was nearly impossible to get anything close to what most would describe as “service.” upon arrival we waited at the desk for several eternities before the receptionist appeared despite all previous efforts to contact him. we checked our bags because our rooms would not be available until 4p. that’s fine news. i enjoyed ambling around the town, which is very beautiful. my companions and i returned at four pm to collect our room keys. our cadre consisted of 3 couples in town for a wedding. now, we all had reservations, one of which was not honored for unclear reasons, i never saw a single soul for the entire duration of my stay. we repudiated this, producing documentation, receipts, confirmation numbers. it was all there. a futile attempt. a deeply unsatisfactory resolution arrived in the form of a cot, which one couple (2 people) would share in another’s bedroom. no attempt from staff to ameliorate the situation or even offer a tepid apology. if anything, they were recalcitrant and dismissive. we were in town for a wedding which requires guests to maintain prompt attendance at each event. our deliberation with the receptionist was extensive, and as none of us were able to access our lodgings—the excuse provided was short staffing—i frantically rushed to get ready in the lobby bathroom. our rooms were apparently not habitable until 12am, which is when we turned in for the night anyways. the next day, several key cards weren’t working. another hour of mental anguish and psychological warfare. it is tautological, to an almost infantilizing degree, but the first principle of hospitality is being hospitable. at the St. Charles, there is none. there is none.

Had our reservation canceled with no alternative options offered.

We only booked this hotel because it was the last available for the weekend, and I have to say I was really disappointed. Stuffy/smelly room, what appeared to be dog hair on the bed, tiny bath towels that would not wrap around anyone larger than myself, elevator is sketchy, they lock the doors at 11 so you have to call and wake up the front desk if you have a later night out. They need to replace the carpets and towels throughout, hire better cleaners or train them to clean properly, and get a card reader for the front door. Then, I think the price per night would MAYBE be justified. I’d never stay here again :/

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. The website photos are pure fiction - in person, it’s a dusty, outdated room with blinding blue walls and furniture that hasn’t moved since the 90s. It feels like an HGTV before shot that never got the after. For what they charge, it’s way too high. The sad part is it has so much potential, being right in the center of Hudson. I don’t recommend this place at all.

I stayed here while riding the Empire State Trail. I would best describe it as 'tired'. The manager was friendly and attentive but I gave 2 stars because it was unbelievably expensive given the quality of the hotel. The room was reasonably clean and quiet and the laundry machines worked well but again, the low rating for very expensive price.

Checked in and went up to the room and the sheets were stained, pillows were stained and there was hair in the bed. There was also an old bandaid on the floor left there by a previous guest. Also looks extremely run down. Front desk staff and the general manager were super helpful and refunded us, they were very apologetic butttt we canceled our reservation and are staying at a different hotel. Also across the street from a very sketchy park.

DO NOT STAY HERE. • Arrived two hours after check-in time (6pm) and was told I couldn’t check in due to “alarm maintenance.”, without any prior emails or notification of said work being done. Was asked to come back two hours later. • Returned after a very long walk to kill time. First room: hair all over the bed, holes and grime on the walls, filthy chair, random phone cord on the floor. • Asked for a new room. Second room: just as disgusting. • Told front desk I couldn’t stay. Manager came out, rude and dismissive, took a photo of one hair and acted like I was lying. • Refused refund because the “CEO was sleeping” and couldn’t be contacted. • Left and booked a clean room at The Wick. • Next day: charge still pending. Gave them a chance to reverse it. They didn’t. • Called again. Manager Zack was rude, refused to let me speak to anyone else, told me to email “him.” • Still fighting to get refunded for a room I never stayed in and wasn't allowed to check into because of an issue on their end. This place is filthy, unprofessional, and borderline scammy. Stay literally anywhere else. Grossest hotel in upstate, NY. If I could give it a negative 5000 stars, I would.

Guy at front desk was verynice. Hotel seemed a little run down and sketchy, but was undergoing renovations so may improve. Looked abandoned/haunted when we came back at night.

Stayed here for my wedding weekend 6 years ago and recently went back for a bachelor party and the staff was so helpful. Our air Bnb electricity went out at 1am and they were there to check us all in very last minute. Place is still great and very comfy beds. Owner or manager even offered me and my wife a free night if we wanted to come back. Wonderful place in the heart of town.
