Porta Montclair

I made a reservation to eat there on a Friday at 6:15. They called me about 2 hours before our reservation and said that the upstairs was closed but they could seat us downstairs which was totally okay. Me and my boyfriend arrived and we were a little early so they said it’s a 15 minute wait which was no problem. About 5 minutes later a different host came up to and said that they wouldn’t be able to seat us “for a very long time.” I was so confused cause before that I had gotten two confirmations that be would be seated. So we just decided to leave. I don’t understand how it took until the third person to tell us they would not be able to seat us. I love the porta in asbury but the management and service at this location is awful. I was very disappointed.

This places gave me a off vibe. Do not recommend.

The food was so amazing but the server we got was super mean

We always have such a great time here! Zariah is awesome and a wonderful bartender. 😊😊

Food was generally very good but the portions seemed small for the prices. Had the Arancini appetizer which was delicious but it only came with 3 pieces. And then then Monday Gnocchi which is only served as a double was what I'd expect from a single portion. Lastly the side of bread we ordered wasn't fresh.

We had our wedding at Porta Montclair and it was phenomenal! Brielle was an amazing coordinator -- super helpful, organized, and communicative every step of the way. Everything ran extremely smoothly and our guests were very happy, including those with various allergies. We feel very lucky to have found an affordable place with not only a beautiful interior, but also delicious food. We can't recommend Porta highly enough!

We had a Masters Degree graduation celebration for our daughter at Porta in Montclair last Saturday. We wanted a location within walking distance to a NJ Transit Train Station because many of the guests were coming from NYC and Hoboken. Portas location is perfect for this. We had about 55 guests attending and unfortunately the upstairs larger venue was all ready booked for a wedding so we took a chance with the smaller downstairs Monk room. At first glance it appeared that it might be too small but Brielle convinced us that it would be fine for a cocktail type gathering. Well, she was right. The room worked great and once the curtain was closed separating it from the public dining area, it created a nice personal atmosphere. Brielle was hands on throught out the event despite managing the wedding upstairs also. She is a machine. Our two servers, Gia and Skyler were amazing. Both with geat personalities. They handled the serving and bartending with great efficiency as a team. Every pizza tray and small bite tray was replenished the minute they were empty and there was never an issue getting a beverage. Finally, the pizza is top shelf and we were very happy with the small bite options and quality. We would highly recommend Porta for an event such as ours or just to stop in for a pizza.

love, great vibe, Rod was very attentive and great at making drinks
