Porta Montclair

Porta is a wood-fired Neapolitan pizzeria and bar on Bloomfield Avenue that doubles as one of Montclair's most reliably queer-friendly gathering spots. The kitchen turns out Naples-style pizza and Italian small plates, but for the LGBTQ+ community the draw is the events calendar: Porta hosts a monthly 21+ drag show billed as “SaturSlay” alongside all-ages drag brunches, and it regularly partners with local LGBTQ+ organizations. With a lively, come-as-you-are atmosphere and a large dining room that spills onto the sidewalk in warmer months, it functions as a de facto community venue in a town without a dedicated gay bar.
