Beautiful spot facing the water, many variations of plants

It takes ages to get there from Manhattan. The streets of Staten Island are ugly, dirty, and crowded with people, each one worse than the last. Most of the businesses are closed. When you finally arrive, there's a living room (the one with the fireplace) with four photos, and the rest of the house is taken up by people who refuse to explain what the museum is about. The views are the same as from the ferry. There are no photos different from what you can see online. IT'S ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH IT.

One of my happy places. Go anytime of year for an amazing immersive experience but warm weather brings on the summer cottage vibes plus a lot of fun outdoor events!

Peaceful and a great way to get away from the mainstream. The museum itself is very informative and educating. The views of the city skyline and Verrazano are beautiful and picture worthy

A hidden gem in Staten Island, NYC. Even if you don’t go inside the museum/house ( which I recommend for the history, struggle, resilience of a love story from inside the early LGBTQ community in NYC/ USA) come for the views and the peace of the grounds when the museum is closed…

I was here in 1991. Located at the beginning of Hylan Boulevard in a lovely park. The view from the waterfront there, overlooking the Manhattan skyline, Brooklyn, and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, is breathtaking. Across the street is the Harbor House, a cozy guesthouse with nice rooms. Highly recommended for anyone willing to forgo the luxury and service of hotels. Alice Austen was born on Staten Island in 1866 and began taking photographs at the age of 10. She was one of the first female photographers of her time. She primarily created documentary photographs, capturing citizens in their daily lives and at work. Over 3,000 of her photographs have survived. Highly recommended for visitors to New York.
