State House Inn & Kongre Merkezi

I was happy to find a hotel just a block from the Capitol, which gave us the opportunity to walk to this iconic Illinois landmark the next day and visit it at our leisure. Open but secure parking. Breakfast with a few options. Very efficient check-in at the front desk. Spacious rooms.

Curtis breakfasts were out of this world. Everyone at the front desk was kind, patient and very helpful.

Incredibly rude and disrespectful staff, the front desk person who checked my team and I in did so incorrectly then called my coworker’s room twice after 10:00 and yelled at her that it needed to be fixed immediately, despite her not having been the one to make the reservation. When I went to fix it, he yelled at me as well for delaying, but he never attempted to call my cell phone and ask me to come fix it. The shower drain was also clogged.

Great experience from a chief that cares about the breakfast to a front of the house staff that's understanding and welcoming. Room was perfectly cleaned and the linens were fresh. Will be coming back 😄

THE GOOD: 1. Outstanding location across the street from the State Capitol. 2. Complimentary breakfast and parking. 3. Short walk to Custom Cup Coffee for a decent cup of coffee to go with the breakfast. THE BAD: 1. While the hotel lobby has a view of the Capitol, the rooms all face two other random street/parking lot views. No rooms view the Capitol building. 2. The pillows are very old. The foam material inside had disingrated into small lumps. We were able to exchange 3 of our 4 pillows at the desk for new pillows. 1 pillow was in acceptable condition. (Please see photo of our bed). 3. There are 2 desk lamps that provide room lighting. It is VERY dark in the room in the evening as there is not a room lamp or overhead lighting. 4. The shower water temperature is either scalding hot (burned my foot) or chilly. No warm temp. 5. The fitness center is musty and equipment is considerably aged. Cost for 1 night was $130. This is way above market value for the quality of the rooms. If the price was $75 a night, I would not be writing this review and would have understood that you get what you pay for. This hotel has a lot of potential. I hope that the remainder of the hotel will be updated to match the lobby.

State House Inn & Conference Center provided a comfortable and convenient stay in downtown Springfield. The hotel has a welcoming atmosphere and an excellent location close to historic attractions, restaurants, and government buildings. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with useful amenities that made the stay relaxing and enjoyable. The staff members were friendly, professional, and attentive throughout the visit. I especially appreciated the convenient parking and the easy access to nearby Abraham Lincoln historic sites and museums. The common areas and conference facilities felt organized and professionally maintained during the stay. Everything throughout the property appeared clean and welcoming from arrival to departure. This is definitely a solid option for travelers visiting Springfield for business, conferences, or sightseeing.

The breakfast was amazing! The rooms are small and one of the elevators got stuck. The view from the room wasn't great. They do have a workout room though! Great hospitality in the morning, but overall not worth $120 a night.
