Hotel La Neige Higashikan

I spent several days here with my family in late March and early April 2023. The environment was fantastic, and the staff were incredibly kind and friendly. Perhaps because it was the end of the ski season, there were very few people, and everything was so peaceful and beautiful. The staff even drove us to ski resorts and nearby restaurants, and when we returned to the hotel, they kindly helped us pack up our ski equipment. We were so incredibly warm and grateful! 😭

The hotel restaurant requires advance reservations. They don't offer a cafe or light meals. The bar is also closed. They should have informed me of this when I made the reservation. At night, the housekeeping staff knocks on the door to check on my requests, but on the third day, I was in the bath and couldn't answer the door, yet they opened it and came in. Normally, they wouldn't do that. Instead of a card key, you set up the key on your phone, but the key I needed to enter the building early in the morning didn't work, and I couldn't get in until 7 AM in the mosquito-filled forest. I don't know if it's because the signal is weak in the forest, but even when entering the room, the phone key took about 10 seconds to work. A card key would have been sufficient. At breakfast, I ordered a cafe au lait, and it was lukewarm. Even the second cup was lukewarm. The breakfast menu had almost no fruits or vegetables. There's no elevator, and there are many stairs. They carry your luggage at check-in, but there are no staff present before 7 AM at check-out. There were several other minor issues as well. The management only changed in August 2026, so I expect things to improve from here on out. The staff were polite and helpful, but overall it was a disappointing experience. I was alone this time, but I don't think I'd want to bring my wife next time.

[A Dreamlike Time] I think it was 1994. While my wife and I were having dinner, a female staff member took care of our son (1 year old) the whole time. I wonder if there are any hotels like that now? It was a dreamlike time that I still can't believe. I digitized some analog photos from 28 years ago. It still looks like a high-class hotel, which makes me very happy. However, I don't have the stamina to drive for 8 hours on a whim anymore. I met my wife while working a resort job at a pension in Hakuba when I was a student, and we had planned to get married at the church in Wada no Mori, but we had to give up on that due to the circumstances of both families. It was a hotel that was more than we deserved at the time, as we had just started our business, but it became a good memory. When I was watching the footage of the Hayama Kaji residence, which was used as Rohan's home in the TV drama "Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe," I wondered if La Neige East Wing also had an image of Oya stone at the entrance, so I looked it up, but there was no mention of Frank Lloyd Wright's influence. It's a shame, but it was a good opportunity to recall memories from 30 years ago. Having lived a little longer, it's nice to be able to experience things that truly embody Steve Jobs' words, "Connecting the dots." I think it was 1994. During dinner with my wife, a staff lady was taking care of her one-year-old son the whole time. Is there such a hotel now? It was a fantastic time that I still can't believe. I took analog photos 28 years ago, then digitally. I'm very happy that it still looks like a prestigious hotel. I just didn't have the stamina to drive for eight hours that day.

This was such a comfortable and relaxing stay, surrounded by the beautiful forests of Hakuba 🌿 From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt calm and luxurious. The interiors throughout the hotel and guest room were beautifully designed, with thoughtful details everywhere. The elegant décor and refined French-inspired style made the space feel both cozy and sophisticated. One of the highlights was definitely the jacuzzi on the private terrace 🛁✨ Soaking while enjoying the surrounding nature felt incredibly peaceful — the kind of moment that makes you completely forget about time. The food was also outstanding 🍽️ Every dish showcased local ingredients and careful attention to detail, making each meal feel special. The seasonal French cuisine and beautiful presentation made dining one of the best parts of the stay. What impressed us most, though, was the hospitality. The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming throughout our stay. Their genuine hospitality and thoughtful service made the experience even more memorable. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway in Hakuba With beautiful surroundings, great food, and exceptional hospitality, this is definitely a place worth visiting ✨ A very comfortable hotel where you can stay surrounded by the nature of Hakuba 🌿 The hotel and rooms are tastefully decorated down to the smallest detail, creating a calm yet high-quality space. You can feel the attention to detail in every piece of interior decor. The French-inspired design was also wonderful. Particularly impressive was the jacuzzi on the room's terrace 🛁✨ Soaking in it while gazing at nature was truly luxurious, making you forget the passage of time. The meals were also superb, and you could feel the care taken in each dish, utilizing local ingredients 🍽️ Including the scenery and the atmosphere, the dining experience itself was special. The French-inspired cuisine, which emphasizes seasonality, is also appealing. And above all, the staff's service was very polite, warm, and their meticulous attention to detail was impressive. You can feel the high level of hospitality everywhere, making your stay comfortable from beginning to end. Recommended for those who want to relax in Hakuba and enjoy a slightly luxurious time surrounded by nature.

Our stay at La Neige was by far the most wholesome experience we’ve ever had at a hotel. It was way beyond just an accommodation. Their hospitality was incredible, 5-star is an understatement. The staffs went above and beyond to make sure we are comfortable and happy throughout our stay. My son would receive an amazing little gift every time we walk past the entrance area. These gifts aren’t lollies, they are pine cones, origami crafts and even two stag beetles in a takeaway enclosure, to his delight. The hotel also has a beautiful restaurant. The french dinner and daily breakfasts were all scrumptious. Again, the quality of their service was absolutely exceptional in every detail. Would not stay anywhere else in Hakuba, if we ever get to return. The best!!! Thank you so much.

Just a great hotel. Surrounded by beautiful trees and plants. Great and friendly staff. The breakfast and diner is great and they have free drinks in the afternoon. Good wines! If i have to name one thing to improve i would say offer some salty Snacks instead of mostly sweet snacks. But of course this is hardly a problem. Definately recommend this one!!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hotel La Neige in Hakuba and couldn’t recommend it more highly. From the moment we arrived, the level of care and attention to detail was exceptional. A special thank you to the General Manager, Tomohiro, and his incredible team, who truly made our honeymoon unforgettable. Every staff member was warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our stay as comfortable and memorable as possible. The room upgrade was a very thoughtful touch and was greatly appreciated. The dining experience was equally outstanding. Giuseppe, along with the chef and restaurant team, looked after us beautifully at every meal and even reserved our favourite table, which made each dining experience feel personal and special. We genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Everything exceeded expectations, and we will absolutely be returning when we visit Hakuba again. Thank you again to the entire team for such a memorable experience.

Beautiful, luxurious, and quiet rooms with excellent service. Delicious food.

We had the most wonderful trip staying at La Neige. The staff are incredibly warm and go out of their way to make sure everyone is well looked after from getting everyone ski booted up and shuttling the family each day to the impeccable apres ski at the end of a long day skiing. We stayed with 2 young kids and the staff were great with them. The breakfast each morning was outstanding and the little extras given out each evening were thoughtful. La Neige is very special and we cant wait to come stay again!

Phenomenal service, the staff was very kind and helpful! The shuttle service to/from the ski resorts and around town were invaluable. The complimentary breakfast and après-ski were also exceptional. Our rooms were very private and clean! Can't recommend La Neige enough
