10/10. I have absolutely zero complaints. Everything was Amazing. My expectations were exceeded for sure. This resort is beautiful, from start to finish. It is a big resort and such a peaceful resort. The resort is well kept and rooms are maintained daily. The staff and people are extremely nice and welcoming. I really enjoyed my stay here and I am so glad I chose this resort. It is nestled right between the beach and village life. There is a gate that takes you right out to the beach. So many dining options and places to get drinks, food, massages, etc. 7/11 right up the street and another 24/7 market. They have a mobile app where you can do everything without having to go to the desk. Anytime I needed anything, it was provided without hesitation. I really enjoyed my time at Black Ginger restaurant as well. Food and drinks were great. Reading the negative reviews on here and it just shows how so many people are insufferable, even when traveling. Ridiculous complaints and expectations, over the littlest things. Come to other countries and are so entitled. So make sure when reading negative reviews you pay attention to the silly complaints.

I liked everything, especially the atmosphere – it's very peaceful, you feel like you're part of nature. We spotted two monitor lizards and a very beautiful bird on the hotel grounds. I can't remember the name, but it looks like a toucan. And I liked the sea much better than in Patong. The only downside is the distance to the center, but that's a minor issue. Taxi's are cheap, and the market is nearby.

Located on Nai Yang Beach, The Slate is a stunning resort designed by Bill Bensley. Honestly, a solid 10/10 with absolutely no complaints! Everything about this place is simply beautiful. The vibe is super chill, peaceful, and relaxing. Staying here feels like being in a completely different world, far away from the hustle and bustle of Phuket. The design is incredibly unique, the rooms are gorgeous, and the landscaping and surroundings are just as stunning. Absolutely loved everything about this resort!

Striking Design, Collapsed Operations, Abysmal Management The Slate possesses undeniable architectural merit, which renders its operational failure and management incompetence all the more glaring. Behind a polished aesthetic lies a complete breakdown in basic service, process control, and customer respect. Financial Sloppiness and Chaotic Arrival The stay began with administrative friction. A booking error via the Hyatt app caused a double charge on my credit card, wasting 30 minutes at reception. I was aggressively pushed to download the resort’s app, while staff initially withheld my key card, insisting on a mandatory "guided room orientation" that I rejected to catch the sunset. Abandonment in Heavy Rain & Construction Site Room When I returned late in heavy rain, the mandatory guidance vanished. Staff handed me a key card with no room number, map, or directions. Layout letters have no logical link to room numbers. I spent an hour searching in a tropical downpour, only to find the assigned room locked and under active renovation. Incompetent Management, Missing Invoice & Contradictory Claims Returning soaked yielded routine indifference. A written complaint brought a patronizing response blaming the "design concept" and offering an insulting 1,300 THB discount. Extending via the app to avoid moving luggage brought further farce: The Hotel Manager texted claiming Mr & Mrs Smith "canceled" my second night. Three hours later, he contradicted himself, asserting the night was fully charged and non-refundable, claiming the resort "has no relationship with Hyatt" and telling me to resolve their B2B billing failures myself. Scandalous Departure Security: Upon check-out, my room-collected luggage was left completely unattended in the open foyer with no staff present. Anyone could have walked off with it. Despite explicit promises, the resort repeatedly failed to provide an electronic tax invoice (folio). Rather than fixing operational flaws, management severed ties and removed the property from Hyatt entirely. Were I the property owner, I would feel utterly betrayed: management sawed off a lucrative revenue branch purely to cover up administrative helplessness and bruised egos. The Mr & Mrs Smith / Hyatt Trap Booking via Hyatt / Mr & Mrs Smith yielded inflated rates, zero status recognition for a top-tier Globalist, and a total refusal by local management to honor program benefits or take accountability. Early Pool Closures Pools close at 6 PM—offering no chance to watch the sunset from the pool. Conclusion Hospitality requires process reliability, accountability, and leadership. The Slate fails catastrophically on all three. Given the beautiful grounds, I would have granted a second chance—had they not withdrawn from Hyatt like a sulky child punishing itself. However, responding to legitimate criticism with condescending lectures, contradictory texts, and destroying their own distribution channel—instead of service recovery—is a masterclass in self-inflicted escalation. A beautiful shell ruined by defensive, short-sighted management. Absolutely not recommended. Poor owners/investors. P.S. A post-stay review of public guest feedback confirms that my experience was not an isolated stroke of bad luck, but part of a well-documented, systemic pattern. Management’s default reflex is to dismiss tangible operational failures, safety risks, and basic service lapses as mere "personal preferences" or intentional design features. From rigid, anti-guest bureaucracy (such as banning bicycle rentals at 5 PM in broad daylight) to dismissive responses, leadership consistently treats legitimate criticism as unmerited nagging rather than an opportunity for improvement. When a resort prioritizes defensive excuses over guest satisfaction, operational decay is inevitable.

Only had coffee looks gorgeous

This is a truly wonderful hotel. I first visited in 2012, and even back then, I thought it was beautiful and stylish. I remember it as a quiet place with a great atmosphere, so I didn't even consider going back when my child was young. However, I booked it briefly as the final hotel of our trip this time, and even though more than a decade has passed, it is incredibly well-maintained and still looks magnificent and beautiful. To be honest, it was much better than the previous hotel. Even though it was cheaper, the service and luxury are incomparable. We wrapped up our trip with our family of three repeatedly saying how great it was, promising to visit for a longer stay next time. Pros: Spacious rooms, friendly service, stunning landscaping, decent surrounding amenities, pleasant scent, close to the airport. Cons: There are three pools, but children are only allowed in the main pool. There are no slides, so active children might get bored. It is far from the city center, making it inconvenient for sightseeing. The bathroom has curtains instead of doors, haha. If that bothers you too much, it might be difficult. Since the pros and cons are so distinct, if it suits your taste, I think your satisfaction will be extremely high. Anyway, personally, I really, really, really love it.
