Taormina Hotel Villa Ducale
Visitors consistently praise the hotel's stunning views and the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, with specific mentions of excellent service and food. A recurring complaint is that the shuttle to town can fill up, and one guest experienced a relocation due to room damage.

Wonderful hotel with stunning views. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful! The shuttle to Taormina was quick and easy as well, but I'd recommend booking in the morning for the return journey since it can fill up. Had an excellent stay, would love to come back!
Everything was absolutely perfect. The view, the complimentary shuttle to town, the food, the room, the service. All was impeccable. Santina was so helpful to us with her incredible concierge services through our whole stay. We will absolutely be back! I could not recommend staying here enough!! Thank you for the best holiday!
Staff, hotel, location at the top
Exceptional. Super attentive staff. Giuliano served us very kindly. Restaurant with excellent food and a unique view.
My husband and I stayed for three nights at Hotel Villa Ducale to celebrate our anniversary, and we couldn't have made a better choice. Everything was simply perfect. We stayed in one of the new suites: a masterpiece of design, elegance, and comfort, meticulously crafted and with a breathtaking view. The real highlight, however, was the infinity pool: without exaggeration, the most beautiful I've ever seen in my life, suspended between the sky and the sea, a magical place where time seems to stand still. The staff's hospitality and attentiveness made our stay even more special, making us feel pampered at every moment. If you want an unforgettable experience and to celebrate your love, this hotel is an absolute gem. We'll definitely be back!
At check in we were very kindly greeted as we walked in. The receptionist gave us a map and showed us how to get into town, explained the shuttles, the buffet breakfast, restaurant (lunch/dinner). She walked us to the room which was upgraded to a beautiful suite in the corner that included a private pool. The room was very clean and had robes, flip flops, shampoo/body wash, coffee, a safe, water, mini fridge (pay for what you drink), beach towels, & a beautiful view. They have everything you may need and if you needed something else you can call the front desk or use WhatsApp to request almost anything. For a fee, Villa Ducale partners with a few clubs that have shuttles to pick you up and bring you to the beach. They also can arrange shuttles and tours to Mount Etna. These services were a very nice option to have. To get into town you can arrange a complimentary shuttle or walk up the hill to the church and down the stairs which take approximately 20 minutes down. Maybe 35 minutes to get back up. Or use WhatsApp to schedule a ride back up My wife and I had an amazing time on our honeymoon and Hotel Villa Ducale is the best place to go if visiting Taormina.
We booked Villa Ducale about 9 months in advance and reserved a sea view suite that cost over €600 per night. Then, just two weeks before arrival, we were suddenly informed that some rooms had been damaged by flooding and we were relocated to another hotel. They told us via email that, “To ensure you still have a wonderful experience in Taormina, we have already taken the liberty of reallocating your reservation to a same category hotel, with the same view, located near by Villa Ducale, where you can enjoy a free upgrade in a special suite.”However, the most frustrating part in this communication was that the relocation was done without asking for our prior consent, and that we have already booked a suite (so the ‘upgrade’ part felt awkward) On top of that, the replacement hotel was clearly lower quality, and when we checked Google for the same dates, Villa Ducale was around €600+ per night while the relocated hotel was closer to €300. When we arrived, the replacement hotel felt extremely outdated and disappointing, so we walked up to Villa Ducale ourselves to complain. After waiting in the lobby for more than 30 minutes, we were finally reassigned to a room in the North Wing with a coastline view from the far edge of the property. Considering we had originally booked a sea view suite and requested a room with exceptional view because this is our honeymoon, it still honestly felt pretty underwhelming. Another major issue was the communication regarding shuttle reservations. Villa Ducale had explicitly emailed us saying that all shuttle and activity bookings from our original reservation would automatically transfer, and we even reconfirmed this via email beforehand. However, on the actual day, the shuttle pickup from the town center to the hotel had not been booked at all. When we called, the staff insisted that we had never made a reservation and claimed the shuttle would not operate without one. When I tried to show the confirmation email to the staff after arrival, instead of apologizing, one male staff member kept arguing that their system was not for “advance booking” but only for same-day requests. The interaction felt unnecessarily defensive and rude. It got even more frustrating when he explained that shuttle bookings could be made through WhatsApp. While he was explaining, I was trying to add the hotel’s WhatsApp contact, and he scolded me saying I should “focus on the explanation first and add it later.” Overall, the service attitude felt extremely unfriendly and unprofessional. Also, during our Italy honeymoon, every other 4–5 star hotel we stayed at included à la carte breakfast items at no extra cost, but Villa Ducale charged extra for them. The breakfast buffet itself also felt surprisingly limited, with scrambled eggs and boiled eggs being basically the only egg options included (other egg options all came with extra price). The pool area itself was beautiful and had an amazing view, and the room condition and cleanliness were both very good. However, the pool service overall felt lacking. There was very little proactive service such as bringing water or greeting guests. We also booked a Etna winery visit activity through the hotel, and the taxi arranged by the hotel was quoted at 374 euros. It honestly felt ridiculous, so we searched ourselves on Google Maps and booked another taxi company for the exact same route at €180. I would strongly recommend avoiding the taxi services arranged through the hotel. The location and views are beautiful, but the relocation handling, communication, and overall customer service were extremely disappointing for a hotel at this price point.
