Hotel Taormina Villa Ducale

If you would like to be in taromina, this hotel has a great location with wonderful views. The staff, Especially Max Is very helpful. The cleaning staff was also great. They have A shuttle once per hour down into the village . Our Junior suite with a Terrace was extremely nice , although small. My only reservation in giving it a higher rating is that I was very disappointed in the breakfast. I have been To two other hotels this trip (Battimandorlo near Noto and Donna Carmela) in Sicily, which were much, much less expensive and the breakfast was exceptional using all organic products and having the highest level of ingredients in everything they made, juices all fresh pressed And they would make you any kind you like. Also you could order anything you wanted from the breakfast menu at no extra cost. At their price point I felt Villa ducale should do the same. Otherwise I was impressed by Villa ducale .

First of all, I'd like to say that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I'm simply describing our experiences and holding myself to the standards of a 4-star hotel. Let's start with the undisputed highlight: the location is truly exceptional! The view is fantastic, and that alone is an experience. The evening dinner with its magnificent view, while certainly not a culinary masterpiece for the €300 we paid, was definitely an emotional highlight. The rooms are okay to good, and there's also a heated pool across the street. However, where we had a truly negative experience (and this is the basis for my overall rating) was with the service. It started with small things, like never being asked at breakfast if we wanted more coffee after our first coffee drink. The extras, presented on a separate menu, all came with an additional charge. I'm not used to that from hotels of this type, especially since the breakfast offered was really basic and not up to 4-star standards. It really needs to be reconsidered whether the extras shouldn't be included in the all-inclusive package. The final straw, however, came on the evening of November 26th. We went into town for dinner and left the power cord in the room so we could charge our mobile devices. This was essential for me because I had to continue working after dinner. When we returned, I couldn't believe my eyes and ears. Someone from reception came into our room during our dinner, unplugged the power cord, and simply took it back to reception. This kind of behavior is not only problematic from a service perspective but also from a privacy standpoint, and for us, it's unacceptable. There wasn't a word of apology or explanation. Other amenities were also lacking. The refused late checkout resulted in a three-hour wait in the lobby. I've stayed in many luxury hotels around the world, and I've never experienced anything like this. Above a certain price point, these kinds of things are simply expected. Not here. Instead, the staff, unaware that we also understand Italian, chatted about why we were still lingering so long. Parking fees were added to our bill (which were immediately removed after we complained), even though we hadn't used the parking. And the staff's demeanor (especially that of the bald man) was anything but friendly. On the other hand, the shuttle drivers were truly excellent (always incredibly friendly), as were most of the waiters in the restaurant (apart from the aforementioned service issue). Everyone can form their own opinion. We won't be returning to this hotel and left disappointed. For such a high price, one expects more.
