Ocaña Apotheke is the cocktail bar in the Ocaña complex on Plaça Reial in the Barri Gòtic, decorated like an old apothecary with bottles, cabinets and low light. The complex is named after José Pérez Ocaña, the openly gay Andalusian painter and performer who was a fixture of 1970s Barcelona and often paraded through this square. It is a mainstream, gay-friendly venue rather than a gay bar, with a mixed local and tourist crowd. The Ocaña complex is open from 8:30am to 3am daily, with the café and terrace on the square during the day and the bar busier at night. Cocktails are priced for the location. Gay bars in the Gaixample are about 20 minutes away on foot or a short metro ride.

Perfect spot to spend an evening soaking in the Plaza Real atmosphere. The sangria was fantastic and refreshing. The absolute highlight was the slow-cooked suckling lamb shoulder with rosemary. Tender, juicy packed with flavor! Highly recommended if you're in Barcelona.
