Center Stage is a sing-along bar on the second floor of the Yumbo Centre, the open-air shopping centre in Playa del Inglés that holds most of Gran Canaria's gay bars. The format is simple: a DJ plays pop and schlager anthems, the crowd sings, and tambourines get handed round. It is a holiday crowd, mostly older and largely northern European. It opens every night from 21:00 to 04:00 and fills from around 23:00. It is a good warm-up bar before the clubs on the Yumbo's lower levels. Drinks are holiday-resort priced.

This place is hidden away on the 2nd floor of the yumbo centre but was well worth seeking out. Not in the least bit pretentious and really friendly. The bar staff are lovely, I was the only female in there on each occasion but was still made to feel extremely welcome. If you like a show tune and a friendly welcome then give it a go xxx
