Where to stay in Cleveland for the gay scene
Cleveland has no gay hotel. The hotels below are mainstream properties we list for location and reviews, not because they're LGBTQ+ venues. The thing to know before you book is that Cleveland's gay bars aren't downtown. Five of the six are on the West Side, 8-10 km away, and the Leather Stallion and FLEX Spas are just east of downtown. Wherever you stay, you'll use rideshares between the bars.
Downtown: closest to the Leather Stallion and FLEX
The Westin Cleveland Downtown on St Clair Avenue and Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade, in the restored 1890 Arcade on Superior Avenue, are the big full-service options, both close to the Leather Stallion Saloon. Cleveland's Fidelity Hotel on East 6th Street, Hotel Indigo Cleveland Downtown by IHG on Huron Road and ROOST Cleveland, which has apartment-style suites with kitchens, are smaller downtown picks. Hilton Garden Inn Cleveland Downtown and Hampton Inn Cleveland-Downtown are reliable chain options near the stadiums, and Aloft by Marriott Cleveland Downtown on West 10th Street is near the Flats, on the west edge of downtown.
Ohio City: shortest ride to Detroit Avenue
Stone Gables Inn is a B&B on Franklin Boulevard in Ohio City, just west of the river. Of the hotels we list, it's the closest to Gordon Square and the Detroit Avenue bars.
University Circle
Glidden House, a mansion turned boutique hotel, and The Tudor Arms Hotel Cleveland - a DoubleTree by Hilton are near the Cleveland Museum of Art and Severance Hall. They're quiet, but a long way from the bars.
Booking tips
Prices climb on Pride in the CLE weekend (the first Saturday of June) and on Browns and Cavaliers game days. Wyndham Independence is in the suburb of Independence, about 15 km south of downtown, so you'll need a car.
