Courtyard by Marriott Bismarck North

Great location close to amenities. There’s Olive Garden and Buffalo Wings just across the hotel, we tried both, we also try breakfast in the hotel restaurant the service and food was great! Hotel is very clean smells good, bed comfortable, shower is clean. Staffs are wonderful, helpful and approachable. Pool is small, there are big boys playing too rough at the pool area and they were shouting very loud and hitting balls with a bat around, some of the guest in the pool are not comfortable with the noise and other kids can’t use the pool as they occupy the whole space playing baseball, they almost hit my baby with their ball. One man tried to stop them from playing too rough and those boys parents got angry at the guy and they started shouting at each other. I called the front desk and told them what happened and the front desk staff was very helpful, he talked to the kids parents and they stopped playing too rough and they actually gave us a space so my baby and my 8 years old can swim. I really appreciate that front desk staff. The kids stop playing rough for few minutes and back again so we just decided to go back to our room. I just wish hotels have rules not to play too rough in the pool area, no baseball and bat allowed even though it’s soft can hurt little kids and be respectful to other guest using the pool area. Other than that incident everything is perfect!

Room cleaning is being done every other day and this was not communicated at check in. Breakfast is not included. The room phone and hair dryer were both broken. We were able to call the front desk easily with room phone for the hair dryer or need for towels. This has not been an issue at previous Marriott properties. Bed was comfortable and room was clean.

Rooms were newer and had plenty of charging ports.

As an Asian guest, my experience at this hotel left me feeling that I was treated differently because of my race. During check-in, I noticed that the front desk manager gave every guest before me and after me a small welcome gift bag containing bottled water and snacks. I was the only person who did not receive one. When I asked why, he told me that the gift was only for loyalty members. However, I do not believe that was the real reason. Immediately after me, two young men checked in and were pleasantly surprised to receive the same gift. I overheard them saying it was their first time staying with this hotel brand. Only after I questioned the manager did he quickly hand me a gift bag as well. The gift itself was probably worth less than one dollar, so the value is not the issue. What bothered me was being treated differently. The only conclusion I could draw from this experience was that I was somehow viewed differently, and it made me feel that Asian guests were not as welcome. I have worked in the hospitality industry for more than 15 years. If the manager’s explanation was genuine, there is a very simple way to avoid misunderstandings: when giving a member gift, simply say, “This is a special welcome gift for our loyalty members. Thank you for your continued loyalty.” That would make the policy clear and prevent situations like this. The second incident was even more disappointing. In our room, a plastic door-frame guard, over two meters long, suddenly fell off the wall and hit my four-year-old daughter. Although it was lightweight and fortunately did not cause any physical injury, she was frightened and started crying. When I called the front desk to report the incident and ask what I should do with the fallen piece, the employee did not apologize, ask if she was okay, or express any concern. He simply told me to leave it outside the room and hung up. These experiences made me seriously question the quality of the staff training at this hotel. Whether it is poor customer service or unconscious bias, guests should never be made to feel unwelcome or dismissed. I sincerely hope management investigates these incidents and improves both employee training and customer service standards, because no guest should leave a hotel feeling the way I did.

Best Marriott Courtyard we have stayed in.

Room was clean and accommodating, but the constant flame of the fireplace pilot light was unnerving. The fridge was noisy and the TV in the bedroom didn't work. Breakfast was okay.

This is a very clean Marriott hotel in Bismarck ND. Very good location , you can just walk to some restaurants like Olive Garden , Buffalo wings . There is also a Family Fare grocery across the street . Employees are nice .

Staff were great but the beds were really uncomfortable. Everyone in our party agreed.
