The Harvey House

Very modern restaurant. All the staff were super friendly and accommodating.

We held a very special, small post wedding dinner at Harvey House. The communication, attention to detail, expertise, flexibility, warmth, quality, and deliciousness was absolutely extraordinary, beyond anything we could have imagined or done ourselves. Thank you, Harvey House.

The food is one thing, but Coby’s service at the bar upstairs will bring us back. He never rushed us and was very knowledgeable about the menu. He’s very passionate about his craft and even gave us a lesson on Chartreuse that we had never heard before. From the host’s very pleasant greeting to the manager making us feel welcome, it was one of the best hospitality experiences we’ve had in Madison.

Food and ambiance was amazing. Brandon made our night better.

We did the bar...on a full Tuesday night. Awesome experience, Chad, bartender took very good care of us. Fun to watch the spiffy wait staff do there thing. Loved the beautiful dinnerware including relish tray on a crystal cake stand.

We had friends visiting from out of town who read about Harvey House on a national restaurant site and really wanted to go, so we went. It is certainly more fine dining than a traditional supper club. Here are our honest thoughts from both couples. What we liked: Atmosphere was great and the cocktails were well made and delicious. The Old Fashioned was perfectly made and my gin martini with blue-cheese olives was delicious. Wine is wine wherever you go. What we didn't like: The relish tray was a huge disappointment. Two small spoonfuls of two different dips, but almost nothing to put it on. Three pickle chips, about five breadsticks a little thicker than fettuccine, some half slices of summer sausage, and some pickled beets. Both couples were disappointed, as we've been to places with great relish trays. I love Caesar salads. If it's on the menu, I order it. They offered a Caesar with kale, and when I asked if the kale was mandatory, the answer was yes. I had the New York Strip for $59. It didn't list the ounces, so I assumed it was a full steak. What I got was five pre-sliced sections of strip steak, along with four small potatoes sliced in half, and a sauce that was almost too bland to describe. My wife ordered the loaded baked potato thinking my steak would be big enough to share. It wasn't. The potato was fine. I mean, it's a potato. Service was extremely attentive, almost too attentive. We must have had to stop our conversation a dozen times for some service reason. Was I glad we went? Sort of. Will we go again? Nope. There are plenty of high-end restaurants that serve what I want. We can go to Tornado and get a $60 steak we can share and still take leftovers home.

Excellent service. The food was good. They made our anniversary dinner special.

My group came in for my birthday. Our table was near where all the wait staff do there thing. Great service with water etc. I ordered the $59 steak. I had a hard time cutting thru it. Maybe the knife was dull. No, it was so tough, I could hardly eat it. My wife and DIL got doggie bags. They brought one bag for them to figure out which is which. This was a $350 debacle for the 4 of us. No problem with the water.

It was our first time and our 10 year anniversary. The food was phenomenal and the perfect portion to fill our bellies. Our drinks were refreshing. The atmosphere is very inviting with warm smiles and friendly staff members. Our server Brandon was very kind, funny and absolutely went the extra mile to make our visit and anniversary super special. Thank you Brandon! We will definitely be back soon.
