DoubleTree by Hilton St. Paul Downtown

FAR from great is putting it lightly. Horrible stay. Was in town for a family wedding. Horrible hotel choice for a block of rooms. $22 per day to park. Was told not safe to walk around at night, so could not walk back from wedding as planned. Room dirty and smelled of cigarettes. Lounge sign said open until 10pm. 4 of us went down at 9:01 pm and was told by bartender she's closing. 25 other PAYING patrons turned away. Who closes your lounge when you're getting a lot of business and you're to be open per your posted hours. Front desk person yelled at bartender to stay open. It's your job, why are you closing? Bad treatment. We were able to have ONE drink only. Bartender would not let us order anymore. No complimentary coffee in lobby for guests. No Continental breakfast. What is free at MANY others hotels, will cost you $15-$20 per person here. Will never recommend anyone to stay here. Made for one long EXHAUSTING disappointing weekend.

I stayed here for a week in August. Employees as well as the overall service I received were excellent! The warm cookies are such a nice touch. However, this hotel is in dire need of updating. The drapes / shower curtains were gross and stained. The lighting was poor, which made it seem even more dingy. My tv didn’t work/ wouldn’t power on. Usually love Hiltons, but this location is poorly maintained.

The room is great. Most service is great! The early kitchen manager was great. The new late kitchen manager closed everything early ( restaurant and bar) because of not enough customers although there were customers still being served. That new manager turned away 8 customers in front of us. The employees working under her were also upset. Does this person know that is how the motel makes money?

Hotel is awesome! Nice rooms and very professional staff! Downtown St. Paul has some reasons for keeping a watchful eye when walking around. Does not diminish the quality of the hotel!

Not great. Upon check-in the room was so hot—literally was set to 80 degrees. It was immediately hot/stuffy/sticky and we quickly adjusted the thermostat to turn down the air and increase the fan speed. It does not have an individual heating/cooling unit, but does seem to be connected to the larger unit of the hotel and coming through a small vent on the wall. Needless to say, it took an extremely long time for the room to cool down—I wouldn’t say it ever got to a comfortable level, despite turning it all the way down and the fan all the way up for 12+ hours. We left the room for a few hours and upon return it was still not all that comfortable/cooler. It was not a great nights sleep. The bed was also extreamlyyyyyyyy soft and bouncy-like. Very outdated feeling and does not even remotely keep your body in alignment. The space is overall pretty outdated and rundown—like all of the carpets could use restreching and just an overall facelift. Idk, it was okay I guess, but I don’t think I’d stay here again. I think I’d just choose a different option.

for breakfast you have to order and wait. in morning busy hours I had to skip breakfast. where they are charging $$ for breakfast. Hotel main door closes at 10 pm if you are reaching at after 10 pm you have to search other door if cab drops you at front door. Location is okay. everything closes early except bars. Room TV is not smart TV can not connect to your Netflix or prime or any app.

This place has the ability to seem both fancy and worn down at the same time. Rooms are clean. Volume button on my remote was broken and there was no shower gel in my bottle. Great location, good prices, staff always friendly.
