Про це місце Green Lantern

Green Lantern is a long-running gay bar on Green Court, an alley just off Thomas Circle and 14th Street NW in Washington, DC. It is a casual, men-heavy bar spread over two levels, with a downstairs bar and an upstairs dance floor, and a reputation for cheap drinks, go-go dancer nights and theme parties such as '80s nights. The entrance is easy to miss, so look for it at the back of the alley. Weekly specials change, so check the bar's social media for the current schedule. It is a short walk from the Logan Circle and Dupont Circle bars.

I'd been here a few months ago and enjoyed the 80s night. Decided to make an impromptu visit after my workout and have a drink. The manager was confrontational with me for no reason. He didn't like my digital ID, which is legally valid, and was about to let me in but then started to interrogate me about why I don't carry an ID, so I just thought he was making conversation. But then he said he wouldn't allow me in and told me, You need to leave, in a manner like I was creating problems. I just said, Oh, so now I can't go in. He said, No, you need to leave. I said, Sorry. And left. And I am not sure why a policy to have a physical ID came with a confrontational attitude by him. He could have simply said, I'm sorry, we just need a physical ID and can't let you in. But he chose to interrogate me with questions about why I don't carry an ID and then abruptly told me to leave. It was unnecessarily negative. I had a fair time there last time but there's plenty of bars around and I have never been refused by anyone at a bar or restaurant so I have little incentive to return there purposefully. I left promptly and went to another bar and had some nice tequila. By the way, I'm 58 years old

Hugo was the bartender and when my friend and I got there Hugo imme said I don't need to drink anymore, thinking I was drunk. I was sober as hell and my friend told Hugo to be nice and watch what he says. He watered down my drink and would not make the drink in my eye sight.

This was my favorite place until today. And that was because the latino bartender was lying about my husband was intoxicated. The truth is that the bartender always knew that we are mexicans and he took party in the diplomático conflict between México and Ecuador. Shame on you Green Latern Bar.

A great and surprisingly great gay bar. It was a little weird at first because the bar is located behind an apartment building down an alley. The night we visited was karaoke night and we had a blast! I can't wait to visit again upon returning to DC.

We came here after talking to some locals. We did not have a good experience. We got to the bar and there was a special function and there was a 10 dollar cover which was no big deal. We went to the bar and ordered two Tito's and cranberry and was charged 19 dollars. We sat and drank our cocktails and went to the upstairs bar. We ordered two more of the same drink and was charged 12 dollars. We stood upstairs for a bit and finally went back to the bar downstairs and ordered another 2 Tito's and cranberry and was charged 16 dollars. 3 different bartenders at two different bars and were charged 3 different prices.

We were pleased to discover that the Green Lantern was just a 5-minute walk from the Washington Plaza Hotel where we were staying. We had scoped out the location on a previous visit, but hadn't gone in. We were there too early for there to be a crowd or any activities, but the drinks were good and reasonably priced, so we plan to return when next we're in DC.

I have gone to the Green Lantern for over 20 years. Unfortunately, things have really taken a turn for the worst! I ordered my usual G&T, and, the bartender was beside himself!! Flailing around in that very common and annoying, queenie, mode common among gay men. "You have to pay with a credit card, I cannot accept cash from you!?" Since when? Myron or Marvin is his name, and he is the manager! He just was yelling and having a temper tantrum, as I have seen him do many times! It is just enough! This place used to be FUN!!!!

We were in DC for a conference. We arrived two days prior to the start of the conference so we could take some time exploring the District. As activists, artists and photojournalists, this was very important to us. Plus my colleague had never been to the District. Our first night we picked Green Lantern as the spot we'd hit up. The reviews were nice and it was close to our hotel. It's not easy to find. It's back in the cut. Getting in was pretty creepy, the guy eyed our ID's forever. Then made some smug comment. Walking in the place seemed cool. After standing at the bar with no one in front of us, we finally get our order taken. We both ordered the same drink, but right away I noticed my had more chaser than anything else. Checking to make certain it wasn't just me, I asked my friend to taste it. He laughed saying "damn did he put anything in yours" He offered me to taste his and immediately I was like "WTF" It was like the guy put all the alcohol in my friends drink. I tried to explain this to the guy who made our drinks, but he wasn't having it. I ended up buying a shot and dumped that in my drink. They both acted like I wasn't being truthful with them. We finished our drinks and left. On the way out the creepy guy at the bar says "you boys come back soon" White men calling Black MEN, "boys" is so completely disgusting.

I stopped in on my last night in DC and had a great time. The staff and patrons were incredibly friendly, and the prices were more than fair! On the night I went, there was open mic karaoke and everyone was having a fantastic time! I would definitely visit again next time I visit

I loved the atmosphere in the afternoon, calm and sexy, I don't know how to describe it! (In the evening, it was too crowded for my taste, but it was still good.) Very friendly bartenders

A solid gay bar for men. Downstairs they play appropriate/good music & videos; drinks are strong and reasonably priced; bartenders are hardworking and nice to look at. Clientele is mostly men (thank god); various ages/demographics make for a nice mix and some potential hook ups. Upstairs can be hit or miss music wise. A nice space for dancing, good air conditioning and again a solid bar/drink experience. Restrooms with working stall doors and fairly clean are much appreciated...

Gay historical bar that is still kicking. Specials are good. Karaoke is good because members of the DC Gay Men's Chorus sing there. Good dance music and events. Disgusting bathrooms. Overall unclean. But we still go there at least once a week

This bar has permanently lost my business. I arrived on a Thursday night at 8:20 pm. I bought several drinks. I was not offered a cup at the door on entry. Apparently, you need a cup when they do shirtless Thursdays and the bartenders won’t give you one at the bar. That is ridiculous. I’ll spend my money elsewhere…
