During my trip along the Kurobe Alpine Route, I stopped by for lunch and enjoyed a delicious meal 🍷

I only visited for lunch. The main course was pan-seared Shinshu salmon, but it was dry, perhaps because it had been cooked some time ago, or maybe it was just like that to begin with. This ingredient should probably be confit. The flavor was very mild, perhaps for health reasons. It didn't suit my taste. The salad and dessert were neither good nor bad. I don't think it's suitable for people who are particular about food.

This is my fourth stay? I'm an IHG Platinum member. I booked a 3-night stay plan. My plan was to relax on the middle day, going to Hokuriku to buy sushi and my favorite soy sauce. The new building had opened, so I was able to change my room. The new building has a private hot spring in the room, and of course, a large public bath with continuously flowing hot spring water. The breakfast buffet was also delicious and I was very satisfied. There's also an indoor pool and a gym, so it's definitely a hotel where you should stay for multiple nights. Revisited in May 2014. This time, I stayed in a room on the first floor of the new building with a private hot spring bath, a terrace, and a spacious tatami area. I wonder if it's big enough for up to 4 people? Double bowl. Even the upper floors don't have great views (you might be seen a little by people playing mini-golf, but on sunny days it becomes like mirror glass so I think it's fine). There are often several groups of tourists, about one bus's worth, on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route tour, so if you plan to have breakfast at the buffet (Botanica) the next morning, it's best to check the time with the front desk. If you want to avoid that, it's better to relax at La Soil (set meal).

The availability of tortillas and couscous, which are not found in other buffets, was a plus. However, the variety of vegetable dishes was somewhat limited. The live egg cooking station in the morning was a plus. It's understandable, but not being able to wear a samue (traditional Japanese work clothing) to the dining area was a minus.

The buffet was subpar

Shinano-Omachi is a great place to stay the night before heading to Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. It's conveniently located near Ogisawa, so you won't be too rushed when you head up the mountain the next day. The hot spring baths are full of traditional charm, and the outdoor baths allow you to absorb the phytoncides of nature. The large public baths are quiet and comfortable, perfect for relaxation. They also provide facial, scalp, and body care products, showing thoughtful attention to detail. The overall pace is leisurely, making it ideal for a good night's rest before heading to Tateyama Kurobe.

The surrounding scenery is absolutely beautiful — a perfect harmony of lush greenery and snowy mountains. The renovated rooms in the new building are excellent and very comfortable. The hot springs and overall hotel facilities are also wonderful. Unfortunately, the restaurant experience was disappointing. Both the variety and quality of the food did not match the standard of the hotel. In particular, the attitude of one female staff member regarding table arrangements felt overly rigid and focused more on company policy than on guest comfort. It left a negative impression at first, but thanks to the kindness and consideration shown by the manager and other staff members, we were still able to enjoy our meal. Thank you for that.

Very huge resort in a quiet place. Very close to the 扇沢站. Provide 6x/day shuttle bus to 大町站. 15mins drive to a retail park with big supermarket and Daiso. Huge Onsen with open air bath. Provided cleaning gel, toner and lotion, hair dryer in each partition table. Lots of choices of breakfast. We really enjoy the time in here. With IHG membership can late check out up to 2pm. But sadly they charged￥300 for 2ppl hot sping tax at the end which did not mention at all. Without doubt will stay here again.

We were able to relax and enjoy our stay comfortably, even with children, and we were extremely satisfied. The staff were polite and warm, and we felt their thoughtful attention to detail everywhere. Also, the breakfast had a wide variety of dishes, and each one was delicious, making us feel very happy from the start of the day. We would like to stay here again.
