منغوليا has legal protections for same-sex couples and is generally welcoming to LGBTQ+ travelers. Major cities and tourist destinations are the most established; see each city page for the current scene and venue reviews.
Same-sex partnerships are recognised in منغوليا, though full marriage may still be pending. The Legal Status panel above has the current position. Mongolia decriminalised same-sex activity in 1961. The 2015 Criminal Code, in force since July 2017, covers hate crimes based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and the Labor Code bans SOGI employment discrimination since 2022 - protections on paper, unevenly enforced. No recognition of same-sex couples. LGBT Centre Mongolia (founded 2007) runs the annual Equality and Pride Days in Ulaanbaatar each late August. Society outside the capital remains conservative.
