Small room, smells of bleach, no TV box (they did find one the next day), staff not all equally friendly😒 Bad bed that urgently needs to be replaced. Air conditioning doesn't work... fan then. Noisy surroundings (single glazing) even though it is a side street off Queenstr. Wasted money.

You get what you pay, its cheap but thre facility and the room is way below the standard of a hotel, cracks everywhere in the room, the mattress needs to be disposed, its so old and full of stained, I took a picture but when I reported it on my last day it seems that staff are not aware or pretending of the condition but looking at the review, it seems that its an ongoing problem but never really address it, the room is too hot, it says on check in to just dial 0 for assistance but there's no phone in the room, elevator were to scan the card has masking tape on it, TV is too old and slow, bathroom is like a public toilet, they provided as sachet of coffee and tea but no teaspoon to use, and lastly, on check in, they have to photo copy my credit card, apparently to keep it in my file just in case I break something, I don't think nothing more to break in that hotel as they're already broken and photocopying a credit card is not a safe way to keeping it safe. The owner and manager need to be up of there game, this is awful

Here is my honest review. will start with the positives: the female staff, including the cleaners, were very friendly. The hotel is close to the city centre, the Wi-Fi worked well, and the shower always had hot water. Now the negatives: the air conditioning was not working. We stayed for four nights in the middle of summer, and it seemed that management thought guests would not notice if they did not mention it. This felt very disrespectful, as we would never have stayed there had we known the air conditioning was not functioning. The hotel is dated, the rooms are very small, and the bathroom fan runs 24 hours a day, which is very disturbing when trying to sleep. Compared with European 3-star hotels such as Travelodge, this hotel feels more like a 2-star property at best. I would advise staying away from this place, as it can really ruin your holiday experience.

Have stayed here a few times now and is a great BUDGET option. Rooms are clean, staff are incredibly friendly and professional, and location is perfect for getting around — especially if you’re using public transit.

No Aircon, broken fan, run down

What a nightmare. This "hotel" should be condemned. It really should be classified as a 1 star motel. First off, the lobby is basically catfishing you. It has nice couches and tables, and everyone is smiling. Then you get to your room to find that it is bare bones and disgusting. No phone, no remote for the tv, a jug for hot drinks but no spoons or plates or bowls. Just two tiny tea cups. Tiny fridge that turns itself off and on at will, so you cant safely keep anything in there. The carpets are so dirty that you can't walk around barefoot. And there is toe nail cuttings visible in the carpet. The air-conditioning unit is broken, and they know, they just aren't fixing it. The windows were open and covered heavily in old spider webs. The walls are paper thin, you can hear literally everything around you. The bathroom though was the worst. There are giant gaps in the ceiling. It's terrifying. The water pressure is non existent and warm-ish is the hottest it goes. Because there is no air circulation, every common area constantly smells like weed or the worst B. O. you've ever smelt. The location is right near a bunch of dodgy hostels and I would extremely caution anyone walking around at night.

Nice basic hotel.Carpets need deep cleaning though.Free breakfast is good but you have to do it outside,nearby VR Queen St. hotel which is a hassel.Overall the experience is good when travelling New Zealand on a budget.

Very small room with private bathroom. Adequate size for the price, bathroom was clean. Appreciated the kettle and hot chocolate in room. Front desk staff was friendly. However the room phone, tv, and air conditioner were non functional. I was also under the impression that there was a gym available for guests, it is no longer available. Air conditioning can be requested turned on at the front desk, however it appears it only runs for a couple hours. I returned from a walk to a hot room, and could not phone down to request. A lot of unnecessary trips downstairs for simple questions. Hotel appears it might have been good at one point, but no longer. Disappointing.
