I don't normally leave reviews but just a warning to anyone coming here just DONT unless you want to be covered head to toe in bedbugs and live in filthy conditions .A hostel in India for 1 doller a night is much better. The owner should be ashamed i would like to see him/her survive one night in that hell hole !!!

Can the owners take some responsibility? If you get reviews almost every week complaining about bed bugs, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. Yes other hostels and hotels experience bed bugs, but they eradicate them. It is not a recurring issue. You claim to be working with the council on the issue, if you were actually doing something about it you wouldn't still be getting complaints all the time. Regardless how cheap you are, there is still the expectation to have clean rooms, and above all be bed bug free. By not fixing the issue you are risking travellers spreading them to other accomodation as they can hide and travel in luggage. The location of this hostel is excellent, if some effort was put into this place you could charge a lot more per night. Your Google review score is 2.2, you are the problem, now get a grip and stop subjecting your customers to bed bugs

The hostel's location is truly excellent, and for the low price, you definitely can't expect a high standard – which is fine. But one question remains: Does it have to be a health hazard for that price? What I find truly outrageous is the pre-arrival email that mentions bedbugs and indirectly shifts the responsibility to the guests. Looking at the reviews, where seemingly every other one mentions bedbugs, it's hardly possible that all these guests brought the problem with them. If that were the case, every hotel would constantly have bedbugs. An honest and professional approach to the issue would be far more appropriate.

For its location you can put up with the state of the place for its price.. Up until one little detail, and thats the bedbugs. And they are vicious.

Really great vibe. In the CBD with lots to do so close by. Many new people to meet who are friendly.

A clean and pleasant hostel. Unbeatable value for money, just steps from the Sky Tower. I recommend it 👍

I don't understand the negative reviews this hostel is getting. Before coming, I was apprehensive because of them, but once I arrived, I didn't understand all the criticism. Sure, it's not new, but at some point, when you're looking for the cheapest hostel in Auckland, stop acting like princesses. The staff are very friendly, and most of the other guests are also very nice. The hostel is cleaned regularly. You have to differentiate between an old place and a dirty one, and again, stop trying to save as much money as possible and expecting luxury.

This place needs to be condemned. Bedbugs, mold, holes in walls, broken toilets, filthy kitchen, useless showers etc.

I was really well taken care of at this backpackers. I know many people mention bed bugs, and to be honest, I did experience that as well. However, I still remember how comfortable my stay was because of the great location, the affordable price, and the kindness of the staff. If I go back to New Zealand, I will definitely come back here!!!!! Thank you so much for everything🤗
