A well-maintained older hotel with pleasant grounds and good facilities. Pros: - Clean, spacious rooms. - Nice grounds with spa, restaurant, lotus pond. - Restaurant is riverside. - Staff was friendly and (mostly) helpful. The service level and friendliness was above most hotels. - Bedding is a very light comforter with throw. Yay! It was the perfect weight for comfort. Cons: - The main hotel image is not lodging. It is part of the property but is not lodging. I didn't look closely at the listing, and I thought the rooms were in these traditional houses. - Check-in is at 2 PM, and we arrived at 11 AM. There might have been one other guest in the entire property, but our room couldn't be ready until 2 PM. The desk clerk was polite, but her response was rather factual rather than empathetic. - The main hotel building is set back from the river. But the restaurant is riverside. - Only one side of the bed had electrical outlets for phone charging. Typical for older hotels. - The room light control is a backlit electronic panel. We never figured out how to turn the backlight off, so it serves as a rather bright nightlight. - The rooms were well maintained but were scuffed from age in some places. - The bathtub/shower design was such that some water was directed to the main floor and not into the bathtub. We had to mop it up lest we slip on the wet flooring. In conclusion: A good property and nice stay. If I were planning a meeting, I would use this hotel. If offered, I would stay here again.
